Prime Minister Andrew Holness leads the Jamaica Labour Party to a narrow 34–29 seat victory over the PNP, securing a third straight term in office.

Polling stations will remain open till 5:00 pm, with more than 1.9 million registered voters scheduled to cast their votes across 63 constituencies.

Preliminary Polling data has indicated that Irfaan Ali's lead People Progressive Party/Civic has secured a second term in office after contesting a strong battle with Azruddin's WIN in Guyana's 2025 Regional and General Elections.

The official data from GECOM shows WIN leading with 10,233 votes more than double of the total earned by PPP/C and APNU, establishing the emerging party as a major player in Guyanese politics.

While these elections are crucial to shaping Guyana's future, voters are reminded to stay alert and informed.

WIN through its press release publicly stated that it will not accept the election results unless its’ polling agents are permitted to be present at polling stations.

The arrest comes after Giovannie Skeen was seen making violent threats in a viral video which was brought to attention to the local police.

Officials must submit their names 10 days before polling day to be assigned to various stations on election day.

The FGM is seeking a court order to include its candidate list on the ballots for the upcoming general elections in September 2025.

The citizens are actively engaging, raising issues and questioning the promises of political parties.

The two major parties - the ruling Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) and the strongest opposition contender People's National Party (PNP) nominated candidates for a total of 63 constituencies.

Both major parties have nominated candidates in all 63 constituencies, while smaller parties including the Jamaica Progressive Party (47 candidates) and the United Independents' Congress (7 candidates) secured their preferred spots.

Compared to the previous elections held in 2020, Political parties this time have upgraded their digital presence further boosting campaigning.

In its statement, GECOM urged the public and all stakeholders to remain vigilant against fake news circulating during the election period.

Under Jamaica’s constitution, Parliament must be dissolved five years after its first sitting.

President Ali while announcing the date of the upcoming elections stated that he will soon issue the proclamation of the dissolution of the parliament as well.

Following the UNC's election win, Kamla Persad-Bissessar became Prime Minister and Pennelope Beckles made history as the first female Opposition Leader.

Stuart Young stated that his resignation came after careful consideration and deep personal reflection on recent events, including the outcome of the General Elections.
