Trinidad and Tobago: The law protection authorities arrested two male suspects in the locality of the Maraval district who were found involved in a case of robbery.

The police officers also recovered an illegal firearm and some stolen items in the operation on the morning of Thursday, 15 August, around 08:30 am.

The details of the robbery case were shared officially by the Trinidad and Tobago police department. It was disclosed that the one suspect man was found hidden in a church of Maraval.

The man was hiding in the get-up of a priest in the church to avoid the attention of the police officers but failed.

The dedicated officers in the robbery case were from the Inter-Agency Task Force, who were on an active mission to catch the suspects of a crime.

The suspects were involved in a robbery and violence, including two other culprits in the locality in which he stole some valuables from the two victims.

As per the details provided by the police in the robbery case, the three suspects entered a private property located in the settlement of Maraval, Trinidad. There were two individuals in the house at the time of the unlawful act who were accosted by three male bandits.

It is also mentioned in the police report that the one suspect in the robbery among the three was armed with a lethal weapon. The armed suspect used the firearm to threaten the victims and announced the robbery.

It is alleged the three bandits bound the victims by their feet and hands to avoid any resistance to their intention. The three male suspects ransacked the house of the victims and left the place with valuables and a quantity of cash.

It is known that the suspect used a motor vehicle to escape the crime scene after the robbery, which belonged to a victim. The motor vehicle was a Nissan Navara car. The victim somehow managed to escape from the bondage after the suspects left their house after looting the place.

The police department was instantly contacted, and the complaint of the robbery was registered. The time was recorded around 08:30 am when the crime was observed. The police officers seized the crime scene for investigation in response to the report after arrival at the site.

At nearly 09:55 am, the action was also taken by the officers from the IATF department who were on a mobile patrol in the Port of Spain district. The response was made by the IATF officers when a motor car was spotted in the vicinity of Park Street, matching the description of the stolen vehicle.

It is understood that the police officers made an effort to stop the suspected car in which the suspects crashed into the police vehicle. After the car was stopped, three male suspects of robbery emerged out of the vehicle and ran in different directions to escape the arrest.

The police officers started chasing the suspect, which led to the arrest of two suspects among three while one managed to flee. One suspect who was arrested was caught when he entered a church and dressed as a priest. The other was held at a short distance away in the area.

The police department also collected a pistol at the scene, along with twelve counts of active ammunition. The investigation officer also managed to recover the stolen items, which were identified by the victims. The matter of robbery in Trinidad is still under probe.
