Despite warning lights, Caribbean Airlines lands safely at Piarco International Airport

Caribbean Airlines’ (CAL) flight from Trinidad and Tobago to Piarco International Airport landed safely despite receiving warning lights, on Sunday, August 18.

The airlines confirmed that the flight did not experience an engine failure while putting an end to the social media allegations that noted the plane underwent an engine failure. However, it was technical issue due to which the airlines have temporarily withdrawn the aircraft’s service for further inspection.

The airlines in response to the incident stated, “Caribbean Airlines reports that flight BW 1509, which was travelling between Trinidad and Tobago and Piarco International airport on Sunday, August 18, was encountered with a technical issue through a warning light in the cockpit.”

CAL further noted that the pilots immediately initiated the relevant mandatory operating procedure which made the aircraft land safely without any damage to any crew or passengers.

CAL further stated that the flight will go again into operation once all the necessary procedures for inspection are completed. The airlines said that they are making sure that their customer experience stays on top and they will prioritize passenger safety at any cost.

“Caribbean Airlines assures all stakeholders that safety is its first concern, and the airline appreciates its valued customers’ ongoing support and understanding,” CAL noted.

Social media users on the other hand are sharing comments with mixed feedback as some are praising the airlines service, whereas others are criticizing them for their safety.

Wendy Shallow, a Facebook user commented, “Reading some really dotish comments from all the wannabe pilots and aircraft engineers. CAL has one of the best safety records out there. I particularly like one comment which stated, “why they wait for the light to come on?”

“Testament to the quality of CAL’s pilots and Engineers. We used to get stuck for delays but safety is #1,” Mark Kidman another user stated.

Nicholas on the other hand said, “We have so many people in Trinidad looking for jobs plus we open our borders to 30 million here ..provide jobs…do after-use inspections on the airplanes….this is carrying people’s lives…why are they waiting for the light to come on to inspect.”

Vilma Seusankar highlighted the need for better facilities while adding, “Oh dear… just now people will be feeling scared to board “we airline”. Please get some “able” mechanics to check the engines. In other words, “spend the money” please.”

Notably, Caribbean Airlines is the region’s most successful and renowned in air service provider. The airline is known for offering a cheaper traveling experience to passengers with no compromise on quality. It operates more than 600 flights weekly among several destinations in the Caribbean, North, and South America, and other parts of the globe.
