India’s External Affairs Minister congratulates St. Kitts and Nevis on 43rd Independence

St. Kitts and Nevis: Minister of External Affairs of India, Dr S Jaishankar extended wishes on the 43rd Independence Anniversary of St. Kitts and Nevis today. He wished Finance Minister Dr Denzil Douglas, the government and people of the country prosperity and happiness on this day.

Dr Jaishankar shared a photo on platform X and said that the Republic of India will always value the close ties between the two countries. He noted, “Best wishes to FM Dr. Denzil Douglas, the Government and people of Saint Kitts and Nevis on their Independence Day. Value our close cooperation.”

Notably, Dr Jaishankar attended the opening ceremony of the High Commission of St. Kitts and Nevis in New Delhi, India on April 7, 2026. Finance Minister Dr Douglas also attended the inauguration ceremony and both of the ministers expressed their happiness, and talked about the cordial ties between two countries.

St. Kitts and Nevis is celebrating 43rd Independence Anniversary on September 19, 2026 with several events including parade, speeches and other activities. The entire nation is expected to gather at Warner park to pay tribute to those who sacrificed themselves for the independence of the country.

This year, the celebration is happening across the island under the theme, “One People, One Vision, Endless Possibility: Independence 43.”

Acting Prime Minister, Dr Geoffrey Hanley will address the nation on Independence at 7: 30 am which will air live through several platforms including SKNIS and ZIZ Radio. As of now, the nation has celebrated several events including “Its Patriotic Day,” and “National Colours Day,” where people wear the national colours of the country and showcase their patriotism.

In addition, Independence Ceremonial Parade will also be held in Warner Park Cricket Stadium where uniformed men and women will step forward in formation to honour the freedom.

It is also considered a moment of pride, discipline and heritage that will march side by side beneath the flag of the country.
