Antigua and Barbuda Falcons win first-ever CPL title in 2026

Antigua and Barbuda: Antigua and Barbuda Falcons won the 2026 Republic Bank Caribbean Premier League for the first time ever. While creating history, the team defeated Jamaica Kingsmen by eight wickets at Kensington Oval, Barbados on Sunday (September 20, 2026).

Jamaica Kingsmen lost the toss and went for the batting in the first inning, setting the target of 171 runs by making 170 in 20 overs. They lost their nine wickets and the score was given by the century made by Maaz Sadaqat who made 114 runs off 58 balls.

On the other hand, the bowler from Antigua and Barbuda Falcons named Sufiyan Muqeem took four wickets in four overs by giving only 14 runs in his innings. He also turned out to be the player of the match as his bowling stopped Kingsmen to set the target more than or equal to 200 runs.

Falcons chased the target in just 16.4 overs with the help of a half century by Amir Jangoo who made 57 runs off 34 balls. He was supported by the innings of Hassan Nawaz who made 47 runs off 35 balls and Evin Lewis who made 38 runs off 26 balls.

However, no bowler from Kingsmen has been able to take wicket more than 1 or 2, making their batters easily chase the total of the finals of the Caribbean Premier League.

Prime Minister Gaston Browne of Antigua and Barbuda extended congratulations to the team and players for their performance throughout the event and said that they have created history for the country.

Man of the Match Sufyan Moqim set up the chase with a sensational spell, taking 4 for 14 to restrict the Kingsmen to 170/9, rendering Maaz Sadaqat’s second century of the season in vain. An unbroken 89-run partnership between Amir Jangoo (57*) and Hasan Nawaz (47*) then comfortably guided the Falcons to 173/2 to complete their historic triumph.
