St Kitts and Nevis to host 2nd Diaspora Conference this September

St Kitts and Nevis: Prime Minister Dr Terrance Drew has extended an invitation to all St Kitts and Nevis’ nationals currently residing abroad to attend the 2nd Diaspora Conference.

Through a video message, PM Drew extended this invitation, aiming to enhance sustainability in the future.

The second diaspora meet is set to take place between 14th to 18th September at St. Kitts Marriott Resort. This meet is set in accordance to provide a platform to the attendees to meet their fellow nationals, share ideas, and collaborate on solutions for a thriving future.

Prime Minister Drew, while addressing the issue, stated, “I invite petitions and divisions living abroad who are passionate about our beautiful island home and dreams of a sustainable future for our St. Kitts and Nevis.”

The event this year is based on the theme ‘Diasporic Synergies for Sustainable Island State,’ which will focus on discussing topics like renewable energy, education, investment, and healthcare. The prime minister stated that the aim of this meeting is to build a stronger and more resilient St Kitts and Nevis.

PM Terrance Drew stated that the nationals should not miss out on the opportunity and should register for the conference as early as possible. Interested participants can visit www.diaspora.gov.kn to register themselves.

The registrants will also get the opportunity to access best rates for accommodation, if it is booked from the website. The accommodation will be provided at local partnering resorts and inns.

The event is scheduled to be engaging and exciting with the introduction of features including Business Gallery, where local and diaspora led businesses will get the opportunity to showcase their products and services. For this event, the interested entrepreneurs can register their business on the site.

The Prime Minister, at the end, while highlighting the combined efforts, noted, “Let’s work together and create a bright tomorrow for our beloved nation.”

Notably, the conference has been earlier scheduled to take place on 1st July 2024, but it was deferred as the island nation got hit with disastrous category 5 hurricane Beryl at the time.

During the deferment, the Ambassador and Conference Chair for Diaspora, Christine Walwyn, explained to the residents that “pressing and unforeseen circumstances made it difficult to successfully host this diasporic gathering during the planned duration.”

She further noted, “As a result of this revised plan, we are looking forward to your participation in the conference, which will take place during our exciting celebration of 41 years of national independence”.
