Six shutouts on Day-5 of CFU Under 14 Boys' Challenge Series 2024

The CFU Under 14 Boys’ Challenge Series 2024 is being hosted in Trinidad and Tobago and entered the fifth day of the tournament on Tuesday, 20 August. In total, eight matches were played at the dedicated venues, out of which six ended with shutout results and the other two tied.

The multination tournament for young U-14 boys is administrated by the Caribbean Football Union. The teams of 23 nations from the Caribbean region are playing in the series out of 31 members of the union.

Out of eight scheduled matches of the day, six were fixed for Tier 2 teams as usual and two for Tier 1 teams. The Tier 2 matches are held at ATO Boldon Stadium, Hasely Crawford Stadium, Larry Gomes Stadium, and Tier 1 matches at Dwight Yorke Stadium.

The day-5 matches of CFU Under 14 Boys’ Challenge Series 2024 started at 02:00 pm. Three matches of Tier 2 were scheduled to initiate the face-offs on the day. The first match was between the U-14 teams of Grenada and St Lucia from Group C.

The football game was scheduled at the ATO Boldon Stadium, which ended with equal goals for both teams. In both halves of the games, the boys of Grenada and St Lucia scored one goal. The first half stopped at 1-1, while the final round ended with a score of 2-2.

The game was announced tied after the final whistle, and the match points were distributed. The other match at 02:00 pm played was Turks and Caicos Islands versus US Virgin Islands. The match between the teams of Group B was played at the Hasley Crawford Stadium.

This was the second match of the day, which ended with equal goals for both U14 teams. This was also one game among eight fixtures in which no team scored any goal till the final minute. The score of the first and second half was recorded as 0-0.

The points for this match were also shared among the two teams. At the same time, the third match was played between the Group A teams at Larry Gomes Stadium. The Antigua and Barbuda vs Barbados match came with the first shutout result of the day.

The football game concluded with a final score of 2-0, which went in the favour of Barbados’s U-14 boys. The first half of the game was stopped at a score of 0-0, while the winning goals came in the second half of the match.

As the first three matches concluded for the day, the next set of three matches for Tier 2 teams was scheduled at 04:00 pm. At the ATO Boldon Stadium, the match was scheduled for the Sint Maarten and Bonaire teams of Group C.

Sint Maarten versus Bonaire ended as a shutout with a final score of 1-0 in favor of the Bonaire team. The winning and the only goal of the match was scored by the Bonaire’s player in the first half of the match.

The other fixed football match of the day was between the teams of the British Virgin Islands and Anguilla from Group B. The game took place at the Hasely Crawford Stadium, which was concluded with a final score of 3-0 on the board.

The U-14 side of Anguilla finished the challenge of the British Virgin Islands as victors with one goal in the first half and two in the second half. The team of the British Virgin Islands remained with no goals in the face-off.

The last football game of Tier 2 teams for the fifth day in the CFU Under 14 Boy’s Challenge Series 2024 was held at Larry Gomes Stadium. The match was between the teams of the Cayman Islands and Guyana from Group A.

The match points were taken by the players of Guyana along with the victory. The shutout result was noted as 4-0 in favor of the Guyana team after the end of the match. The young players of the winning U-14 team scored two goals in each half of the game.

The next two matches were scheduled for the teams of Tier 1 for day-5 of the CFU Under 14 Boy’s Challenge Series 2024. Both the matches were played by the teams placed in Group A at the Dwight Yorke Stadium.

The matches were scheduled as Jamaica versus Aruba at 04:30 pm and Trinidad and Tobago versus St Kitts and Nevis at 06:30 pm. Both football games came out with shutout results, where Jamaica won with a score of 5-0, and Trinidad and Tobago took victory with a final score of 2-0.
