Jamaica: The dancehall music sensation, Popcaan has made history by becoming the first artist to sell out the iconic Crystal Palace Bowl in South London.

The event which took place earlier this month saw an overwhelming response which marked a significant milestone in the artist’s career. “This is truly a dream come true, and I want to thank all of my Unruly fans for their unwavering support,” Popcaan said.

This is also the first time for a Jamaican musician to achieve such a milestone since the great Bob Marley performed in South London during his 1980 uprising tour.

Popcaan’s sensational performance at the event brought over a crowd of almost 10,000 people. His performance truly captivated the audience by lighting the night with his musical magic and cultural celebration.

The Crystal Palace Bowl which has been known for its lively music since decades, echoed with the throbbing beats and irresistible rhythms of dancehall, providing the Jamaican culture a great success.

Apart from Popcaan, the Queen of Dancehall, Spice, also honed the stage with her alluring performance. She set the stage on fire with her presence and strong vocals which left the audience in awestruck.

Many other special guests were also present at the event including, Soun Bwoii who set the tone for the night with his viral “Pump Up” and Damon Albarn, who is the frontman of the renowned band Gorillaz.

Albarn performed with Popcaan at their sensational collaborative song ‘Saturn Barz’, which made everyone present at the venue cheer up to experience the fusion of different genres and cultures.

Natebadz, Popcaan’s younger brother also joined him over the stage as they performed their famous track ‘Warrior’.

Popcaan in regard to his achievements noted, “I am humbled and incredibly proud to make history in London for my family and the entire Jamaica. together, we’ve shown the world the power of dancehall music.”

The 36-year-old artist born in Saint Thomas Parish, Jamaica has been growing into popularity since his career started in 2007. His admiration among the audience grew stronger with his collaboration with Vybz Kartel on ‘Clarks’ in 2010.

Since then Popcaan has given several hits to the Jamaican music industry and has also featured on The New York Times, where he talked about the growing impact his international single ‘Only Man She Wants’ had on the audience.

However, this new achievement by the dancehall sensation is not only a win for him, but for the entire dancehall music community. As the first artist from his genre to accomplish such a historic win, his efforts continue to break barriers and set new standards for the upcoming generation.
