Women’s Caribbean Premier League 2024 starts Wednesday in Trinidad and Tobago

The Women’s Caribbean Premier League 2024 is ready to kick start on Wednesday, 21 August and will take place in Trinidad and Tobago.

The cricket tournament is a franchise-based league, like its men’s edition, but it is focused on women players. The 2024 edition is the third season of the Women’s Caribbean Premier League.

A total of three teams are participating in the tournament such as Trinbago Knight Riders, Barbados Royals, and Guyana Amazon Warriors.

The names of the players of each team in the Women’s Caribbean Premier League 2024 are disclosed, who will play to take their team to victory and win the title.

The captains of the three women’s teams are also announced. Deandra Dottin will be leading Trinbago Knight Riders women, Hayley Matthews is captain of Barbados Royals women, and Guyana Amazon Warriors women will play under the guidance of Stafanie Taylor.

The Women’s Caribbean Premier League 2024 editor will be hosted at the venue of Tarouba, for which Brian Lara Stadium is prepared. The cricket league will continue for nine days in total, in which seven matches will be played.

All the seven matches will be palyed at Brian Lara Stadium and the final is scheduled for Thursday, 29 August, when the top two teams will face each other for title. The Women’s Caribbean Premier League 2024 will be a double round-robin cricket tournament.

In round-robin style of league, each participating team face each team in their group for one match. Similarly in double round-robin style of league, each participating team meed to play two matches against every team in their group.

In the previous two editions of the Women’s Caribbean Premier League, two different winners won the title trophy. In the inaugural season of the tournament for the first time, the Trinbago Knight Riders women’s team was picked for the trophy by winning the final.

In the last edition of the Women’s Caribbean Premier League, the team of Barbados Royals women marked the title of victors in their name. Barbados Royals women will hit the ground this season as current champions and will play to defend their title.

Guyana Amazon Warriors women will start their venture in the tournament to win the title for the first time, while the other two teams will aim for their second. After the inauguration of the 2024 edition, the first match of the season will take place on Thursday, 22 August.

The opening match of the Women’s Caribbean Premier League 2024 is scheduled between Barbados Royals women and Guyana Amazon Warriors women. The entire tournament will be telecasted live for the online audience on the website of FanCode and its app.
