Paris 2024: Olympics fan sacrifices everything for her sports enthusiasm

The Paris Olympics 2024 are currently going on and fans had been showing their enthusiasm and passion even before the biggest sports event started. One such fan has captured the attention of the netizens due to her support.

Vivianne Robinson, a 66-year-old lady hailing from Los Angeles is an Olympic superfan and has been attending the sports event for the last 40 years. However, her trip this year was one to be remembered in History.

Robinson in order to attend the 2024 Olympics in Paris maxed out her credit cards and worked day and night to afford this trip and the tickets to 38 events. She used to work at Venice Beach during the day where she used to put names on necklaces using rice and bagged groceries at night.

Robinson stated that she will have to work for two more years in order to payback her expenses for this trip. “It was hard to save up and it’s a big budget, but it’s a thousand times worth it,” she added.

Still after spending the money, she earned day and night, Robinson stated that she is disappointed as she paid US $1600 for the opening ceremony but ended up watching the Olympics opening ceremony on a screen over the bridge destroying her fan moment.

Robinson recalled the Atlanta Olympics which held in 1996 remembering that her passion to collect pins made her attend the celebration where she made rice necklaces for athletes in exchange of pins.

“I got all the pins and I got to meet all the athletes” Robinson stated emphasizing that security during those days was not high as it is nowadays. “Now you can’t even get near the athletes’ village.” Robinson stated.

Since then, Robison has been attending every Olympics game living her fan moment,  however she mentioned that she got the visa for Beijing 2008 but was not able to make it to the event as she was not able to afford it. Similarly, she stated that the tickets for Tokyo Olympics were bought but her plan got cancelled due to COVID-19 pandemic at the time which was conducted without the audience.

Robinson’s dedication for the Olympics is sewed in her outfits, which she took a year to decorate. The Olympic fan decorated the outfit with hundreds of adornments, tens of Eiffel Tower on her hat, Olympic ring earrings and several more patches, pins and flags fixed to her outfit.

Robinson standing on the streets said she feel like a celebrity as she stated “It is a little bit overwhelming. I can’t really get anywhere because everybody stops me for pictures. It takes a long time to get to the venues, but it’s okay”

2024 Olympics fever is on peak throughout the fans around the world and moments like these makes the event more joyful and worthy to be watched.
