68% hike recorded in air passenger arrivals during Nevis Culturama 2024

St Kitts and Nevis: A 68% surge has been recorded in the arrival of the passengers at the Vance W. Amory International Airport during the celebration of the 50th anniversary of Nevis Culturama. The festival was considered as the perfect platform for the homecoming and turned out to be a resounding success.

Premier Mark Brantley shared a detailed report on the success of the Culturama Festival and noted that it has provided an incredible turnout for Nevis. Due to the festival, the island has experienced remarkable increase in passenger movements throughout this period compared to 2023.

The air traffic has recorded resounding growth this year in the arrival of the passengers due to the Nevis Homecoming Celebration. As per the experts, the homecoming aspect has worked quite well for the tourism sector of the country as it invited all the citizens from the foreign countries to return to their homeland.

In addition to that, the water traffic has also experienced an incredible surge as the Oualie Water Taxi Pier was used by the travellers to visit Nevis. A total of 60% hike has been recorded in the arrival of the passengers through water taxi compared to the period of 2023.

The Oualie Beach Water Taxi Pier was opened in May 2019 to provide seamless travel to and forth St Kitts and Nevis. This year, the administration also launched the brand-new signage and administrative building for the enhanced experience of the travellers.

The water taxi pier has also provided growth to Nevis tourism sector in the first quarter of 2024 by welcoming over 7k passengers. Due to this facility, the hike has also been experienced during the Culturama Festival 2024.

7% rise has been recorded in the harbour activitiy at the Charlestown Harbour due to the 50th anniversary celebration of Nevis Culturama. Besides this, 1025 vehicles also passed through LongPoint Vehicle Traffic during the staging of the festival.

Premier Mark Brantley also shared glimpses of the taxis standing at the LongPoint and lauded the tourism sector of the country.

This year, Nevis celebrated the 50th anniversary of the Culturama which was launched to honour the culture and heritage of the country. The homecoming theme was celebrated at the festival to invite citizens from foreign countries and celebrate the rich offerings of their homeland.

Several activities including Pageantries, Cultural Village, Homecoming Day, Pan and Fashion Fiesta, C50 Wet Fete at Cultural Village, Culcha Pot and Green House Band were organized to celebrate the 50th anniversary.

The music, dance, and festive atmosphere which has truly captured the essence of Nevisian pride, and the people gathered at the stage chanting “Nevis is truly Nice.”
