CPL 2024: Trinbago opens venture with banger, scoring third highest total

The Caribbean Premier League (CPL) 2024 entered into its third day and witnesses third highest score of 250 in the third match. Trinbago Knight Riders faced their first match against St Kitts and Nevis Patriots and started their venture in style.

The match took place at the Warner Park Stadium, which came out to be a batting friendly pitch. The T20 cricket game was a nightmare for bowlers of both sides as the total runs scored in the match were 456.

The team of Trinbago Knight Riders collected 250 runs after a loss of 4 wickets in 20 overs. This was also a third highest score in the history of the league and highest in CPL 2024 till now.

On the other hand, the team of St Kitts and Nevis Patriots also crossed the mark of double hundred and made 206 runs in 20 overs. They lost 8 wickets during their unsuccessful effort to chase the grand target.

Under the Captainship of Kieron Pollard, Trinbago Knight Riders came to bat first after losing the toss. Andre Fletcher of Saint Kitts and Nevis Patriots made his decision to chase the target with his batsmen.

The day was with Knight Riders and the batting of Nicholas Pooran along with Keacy Carty totally shattered the bowling attack of Patriots. Both players scored half-century and helped the team to reach the mark of 250 runs.

Nicholas Pooran lost his wicket to Anrich Nortje on the team’s total of 211 runs in 17.4 overs. Pooran failed to score the first century of the CPL 2024 by just 3 runs and got caught on the personal score of 97 runs.

Pooran 43 ball after hitting pitch on the first dawn. He collected 7 boundaries and 9 and the most counts of sixes with a strike rate of 225.58. In match, total 28 sixes were hit, 11 by Patriots and 17 by Knight Riders.

On the other side, Keacy Carty concluded the inning not out and scored 73 runs on 35 balls. He hit 9 boundaries and 3 sixes with a strike rate of 208.57. Sunil Narine also gave a good start as opener in his small inning.

Sunil Narine scored 38 runs in 19 balls with a strike rate of 200 with help of 3 fours and 4 sixes. While batting second, the team of Saint Kitts and Nevis Patriots given a good attempt to chase target 251 runs, but failed by 44 runs.

Batsmen of Patriots tried to collect good and quick scores for the team but no one was able to stand of the strike for reasonably long time. Only Mikyle Louis was able to spend some time on strike who played 38 balls and scored a half-century for team.

Mikyle Louis scored 56 runs with help of 7 fours and 2 sixes with a strike rate of 147.37. The team ended their unsuccessful chase with a good total of 206 runs after a loss of 8 wickets.

With a difference of 44 runs Trinbago Knight Riders won their first match of the CPL 2024. Meanwhile, Saint Kitts and Nevis Patriots faced first loss after winning against Antigua and Barbuda Falcons.

The score of 250 runs for 4 became the third highest total by a team in the history of the Caribbean Premiere League. The highest total of the CPL is 267 runs for 2 which was scored in 2019, also by Trinbago Knight Riders.
