Security officer appears in Trinidad High Court for Curepe murder case trail
The law enforcement department of Trinidad and Tobago held and laid charges on a suspected security officers in a case of murder in Curepe.

Trinidad and Tobago: The law enforcement department of Trinidad and Tobago held and laid charges on a suspected security officers in a case of murder in Curepe. The accused was set for the appearance in the High Court for trail on Friday, 30 August.
The information of the murder incident in Curepe was disclosed by the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service. The accused was arrested on Sunday, 25 August, for the crime. The identities of the suspect and victim was also shared by the department.
The suspects individuals facing trail in murder case is mentioned in police report as a local of Curepe, Trinidad. The accused is a 35-year-old man named Kerwyn St Rose, living in a residence along Riverside Road.
Kerwyn St Rose is a security officers in field of his occupation. The victim of murder case is also mentioned to be the resident of same neighborhood as suspect. The victim was a 29-year-old man named Matthew Mungaldeen.
Matthew Mungaldeen was a data management officer by profession. As per the police report of murder case, the victim was liming at a bar in the locality near his home in Curepe, Trinidad.
It is mentioned that the suspect approached the victim at the bar and both were known to each other. It is said that the suspect asked the victim for a drink of puncheon. However, the demand of Kerwyn was refused by Matthew.
The incident led to an argument and which turned into a physical confrontation. The things got elevated on a level that the suspect dealt a stabbing wound to the victim. It is said that the accused picked a knife against the victim, which was used for the fatal attack.
Immediately after the fatal attack, the suspect left the crime scene and escaped on foot to avoid getting caught. Anyhow, the police department was involved in the murder incident recorded at the bar of Curepe, Trinidad.
The case was registered after the confirmation of death of the victim and the manhunt operation was launched. The investigating officers made their way to the security officer and held him for the committed crime.
Later after the interrogation process and collection of evidence through investigation the suspect was laid with relevant charges. On Thursday, 29 August, the man was charged for murder after the advice of Joan Honore Paul, the Deputy Director of Prosecutions.
The case was handled by the officers of Homicide Bureau of Investigations Region II and inquiries were conducted by PC Nunez. The investigation was led under the supervision of ASP Ag Victor and Inspector Ag Simon.
The case of murder in Curepe, Trinidad, was heard in the High Court North A by Master Margaret Sookraj Goswani. After hearing, the accused was ordered to be remanded in custody. The date for sufficiency hearing is scheduled for 15 September 2025.
