Tobago woman dies after road accident along Claude Noel Highway in Lowlands

Trinidad and Tobago: A woman who got severely injured in a road accident in Lowlands, Tobago lost her life. The case was registered by the police after the report of the act on Friday, 30 August, around 07:45 pm. The accident took place near Agostini Insurance Brokers along Claude Noel Highway.

The investigation of the death case in the accident is ongoing by the Tobago police department. The woman was found bleeding along the south side of the Claude Noel Highway when police arrived. The victim is identified by the authority.

The deceased is mentioned in the police report as a 24-year-old woman. The name of the lady is disclosed to be Rolisa Cooke in her official documents. The accident victim lived at a residence along Hampden Road in Lowlands, Tobago.

The lady in her mid-twenties was trying to cross the road on foot when she met the accident in the evening hours of Friday. The victim was struck by a Volkswagen sedan car of black color. The car was occupied by the two individuals during the incident.

The driver, who was in the driving seat and operating the car, is described as a 25-year-old man. The man and his company did not escape after the accident and stopped to help the lady and to answer the police.

The driver involved in the accident is mentioned as a resident of the settlement along Buccoo Road in Mt Pleasant, Tobago. The man was taken for the question and answer session by the police department. Subsequently, his statement was recorded.

The driver explained to the investigating officers about the situation, which was recorded in the evening time at nearly 07:45 pm. The man told that he was driving along Claude Noel Highway in the west direction when suddenly a woman came in front.

The man stated that it was dark outside and things were not very visible as the traffic was also reaching the east direction. When the man with his car reached near Agostini Insurance Brokers, he spotted a woman in the middle of the road.

The victim woman was trying to cross the highway from the northern side on foot. The driver stated that he tried to pull his vehicle to the right in order to protect the woman. However, he failed to avoid the accident and hit the lady.

It is said that the woman got frozen in the middle of the highway and struggled to take a division due to lack of time. This went against the victim and left her injured within a moment. The impact threw the lady to the south side of the road.

Straight after the accident along Claude Noel Highway in Lowlands, Tobago, the authorities were contacted. The police unit in the region instantly took charge and started the investigation. The lady was declared dead after the examination.
