St Kitts and Nevis has partners with the Caribbean Community Climate Change Centre (CCCCC) ensuring climate resiliency and sustainability.

St Kitts and Nevis: The government in St Kitts and Nevis has moved a step ahead for environmental Sustainability as the agreement has been passed for the Caribbean Community Climate Change Centre (CCCCC). The announcement was made public on 2nd August 2024 by the federal parliament of the nation.
Joyelle Clarke, the senator and Minister responsible for sustainable development, environment and climate action, and constituency empowerment led the meeting stating the pivotal role of legislation in underscoring the nation’s commitment to sustainable development.
This initiative aims to partner with Caribbean Community Climate Change Centre (CCCCC), fostering efforts to address the continuous challenges faced by climate change. Joyelle Clarke highlighted the importance of the bill during her address to the parliament.
“The passage of this Bill marks a pivotal moment in our nation’s environmental policy, it signifies our dedication to working alongside our Caribbean neighbours in mitigating the impacts of climate change and advancing sustainable development goals.” She stated.
The CCCCC, which has been established by the Caribbean Community (CARICOM), plays a pivotal role in addressing the climate change in the country. this agreement will help improve technical expertise, financial resources, and strategic initiatives designed to build climate resilience.
The Bill’s successful passage demonstrates the collaborative spirit of the Federal Parliament and a common commitment to a sustainable future. Clarke thanked her parliamentary colleagues for their support and highlighted the need of joint effort in combating climate change.
“We are at a critical juncture where immediate and decisive action is required, Through this agreement, we are reinforcing our commitment to protect our environment, safeguard our communities, and ensure a sustainable future for generations to come.” Clarke stated.
“The Caribbean Community Climate Change Centre agreement marks a significant step towards St Kitts and Nevis’ environmental agenda” she added.
The CCCCC was developed in accordance to provide support to nation for climate change. The centre also provides climate related policies and guidelines, conducts research and provide facilities for financial and technical resources to support climate resilience and sustainability.
