Roseau, Dominica: Olympic Gold Medalist Thea Lafond received warm welcome at Dons and Divas Boutique under the patronage of Melissa Poponne Skerrit- Minister of Housing of Dominica. She visited the boutique and interacted with the designers to learn about their designs and creative creations.

Melissa Skerrit hosted an interactive event for Thea Lafond and honour her for her achievements at the global stage. She expressed delight in meeting with everyone at the Boutique and lauded the creole culture and heritage of Dominica.

Minister Skerrit also selected a look for Thea Lafond from the boutique which would showcase the rich culture of Dominica. The house designer of Dominica also displays her own custom creole couture wear that will signify the natural reserves of the country.

Melissa Skerrit noted,” We are so excited to facilitate the creation of her own custom creole couture wear from our in-house designer. Look for Thea in our custom wear this creole season.”

Melissa Skerrit was also seen choosing outfits for Thea Lafond from the boutique and noted that Dominica has great creole culture which signifies its importance and heritage.

Thea Lafond arrived in Dominica on Sunday last week after winning historic Gold Medal in the 2024 Paris Olympic Games for the country. She has received great welcome with exceptional performances of the artistes and musical events.

The motorcade rally and concert has also been hosted by the government to honour Thea Lafond and make the citizens interact with the champion. She talked to the citizens of Dominica and shed light on her Olympic journey.

She won the first-ever medal for Dominica at the Olympic and secured Gold at Triple Jump despite her injury during the event. She was lauded for her performance as she etched the name of Dominica in the history.

Thea Lafond has participated in several activities that were being hosted by the government of Dominica for her welcome and recognition. She also received $200,000 from Prime Minister Dr Roosevelt Skerrit and the national award for her great achievement on the global stage.
