LIAT 2020 is all set to offer direct flights to Dominica, Grenada and St Kitts and Nevis in the launch of their new routes. With the return of the airline to the skies, new routes for direct operation have been unveiled which has also marked the regional connectivity across the Caribbean.
The flights will be operated to these new routes with prices starting from US$999 inclusive of all the taxes. LIAT 2020 has been providing regional service to several destinations including Saint Lucia, Antigua and Barbuda and Barbados.
The airline has also pledged to provide flight service to several international markets including America, Europe and Britain. The special rate has been disclosed by the airline for travellers due to the recent launch of the airline.
After the closure of LIAT 1974 due to the pandemic, the LIAT 2020 has come into formation as the government of Antigua and Barbuda announced its partnership with Nigeria based AirPeace. With that, they announced the retuning of the airline to the skies and the process for the same has started in January 2024.
In January, the farewell has been given to LIAT 1974 with grand celebration and the discussions for the LIAT 2020 was started with the promise that the airline will make comeback. In March 2024, meetings and dialogues were organized for the purchase of the aircraft that will operate the service for the airline.
In April 2024, a the training and the test of the flights of the LIAT 2020 have been started under the supervision of the Eastern Caribbean Civil Aviation Authority. In the first test flight, th fault was detected in the landing gear and engine.
Futher, the gears have been replaced and first two aircraft Embraer E-145 jet have arrived in Antigua and Barbuda in the same month.
In the month of June 2024, the airline received its Air Operator’s Certificate which is known as the crucial step for the starting of the commercial operation.
In first week of August 2024, the LIAT 2024 made it to the skies and started the flight operation with non-stop services on different routes.
