Kirani James wins Silver in Men’s 400m at Rome Diamond League

Grenada: Kirani James from Grenada won silver medal in the men’s 400m race at the Rome Diamond League with a time of 44.30 seconds. The Gold medal was clinched by Zambia’s Muzala Samukonga who completed the sprinting with a time of 44. 29 seconds.

The third spot was secured by another Caribbean from Trinidad and Tobago- Jereem Richards who won the bronze medal with a time of 44.55 seconds. The Diamond League has excited Kirani James for his performance as he referred to it as a “great day.”

He noted that it is really great to represent Grenada and performed well at the global stage. “To be the best I can be,” he cited after his Diamond League victory.

Wishes have been poured on the achievement of Kirani James as the citizens expressed pleasure and celebrated his victory on the global stage. Netizens added that he is the true champion from Grenada who placed the country on the higher position at the global stage.

Kirani James has recently participated in the Paris 2024 Olympic Games and finished his journey at fourth position in the finals of the men’s 400m. He secured the Gold Medal in the Olympics for Grenada in 2012 in London and turned out to be the world champion from the small island nation.

He also won the World Championship in 2011 at the age of 18 by recording a time of 44.60 second. He further earned Grenada its first ever IAAF World Championship Gold Medal.

Kirani James won the Gold at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow and won the Diamond League for the second time in 2015. Besides this, he also managed to win silver medal in the men’s 400m in the Rio Olympics in 2016, bronze in the Tokyo Olympics and become an athlete with three Olympic medals.

He debuts in the Olympic Games in 2012 in London and won gold for the first-time ever in the games for Grenada. He is considered as one of the most decorated athletes from the country with several records and medals in global championships.
