ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2024: All you need to know about West Indies squad, fixtures

West Indies: The squad and the schedule of the matches of the West Indies have been announced for the much-anticipated ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2024. While getting placed in Group B, the matches of the team will be held with Bangladesh, England, Scotland and South Africa.

Under the captainship Hayley Mathews, a 15-member team will start its T20 journey and play for the World Cup. Shemaine Campbelle will be the vice-captain of the team, including Aaliyah Alleyne, Shamilia Connel, Nerissa Crafton, Deandra Dottin, Afy Fletcher, Chinelle Henry, Zaida James Qiana Joseph, Mandy Mangru, Ashmini Munisar, Chedean Nation, Karishma Ramharack, and Stafanie Taylor.

The ICC Women’s T20 Cricket World Cup is scheduled to take place from October 3 to 20, 2024 in the United Arab Emirates. The journey for West Indies in the tournament will kickstart on October 4, 2024, against South Africa at Dubai International Cricket Stadium.

According to the fixtures, the team will first participate in the warm-up matches including:

On September 29, 2024: West Indies vs India at ICC Academy Ground No 2, Dubai

On October 1, 2024: West Indies vs Australia, The Sevens Stadium, Dubai.

At the group stage, four matches will be held for each team and the top two teams in the standings of the ICC World Cup will reach the semi-final stage. Four teams from Group A and Group B will qualify for the finals and two will reach the finals of the World Cup 2024.

The schedule of the matches of the Group B will feature:

On October 4, 2024: West Indies vs South Africa at Dubai International Cricket Stadium

On October 6, 2024: West Indies vs Scotland at Dubai International Cricket Stadium

On October 10, 2024: West Indies vs Bangladesh, Sharjah Cricket Stadium

On October 15, 2024: West Indies vs England at Dubai International Cricket Stadium

After that, the stage of the semi-final round will be kickstarted with the first match scheduled to take place on October 17, 2024, and the second will be held on October 18, 2024. The final of the tournament will be held on October 20, 2024 at Dubai International Cricket Ground.

All matches will be broadcast live on ESPN Caribbean. Notably, the ICC T20 World Cup 2022 was won by the Australia Women as the final was held against South Africa.

In the Group A, four teams are named: Australia, India, New Zealand, Pakistan and Sri Lanka.
