Grenada: Sashelle Alves wins National Carnival Queen Pageant 2024 with multiple awards

Grenada: Miss Carriacou and Petite Martinique Sashelle Alves captured the crown of the National Carnival Queen Pageant 2024. The event took place on Thursday at the Kirani James Athletic Stadium and featured seven contestants from across Grenada. 

Alves also won several other awards for Best Interview, Best Pre Interview, Best Evening Wear, Best in Evening Wear and the People’s Choice Award.

The winner was followed by Miss St Andrew’s Kenya Alexander and Miss St David’s Heidi Charles who bagged the 1st runner up and 2nd runner up positions respectively.

Notably, the attendees of the pageant are saying that it was well judged and Sashelle Alves performed exceptionally in every segment.

Especially in the Swimwear category, during which each delegate had a cover-up depicting elements of Grenada’s coat of arms on the inner side, a symbol of nationalism as they celebrate the golden jubilee, Alves looked stunning and dazzled the stage with her unique walk.

As the first contestant from Carriacou and Petite Martinique to win this prestigious title, Sashelle has made her community and the entire nation incredibly proud.

Following the results, the internet was flooded with congratulatory messages for the winner, including Prime Minister Dickon Mitchell taking to Facebook and saying, “We celebrate with you Sashelle and look forward to your continued success and contribution to Grenada’s cultural heritage and pageantry.”

Another user named Petrina Compton wrote, “Congratulations Love Sashelle D Alves. Believed in You from Carriacou Carnival pageant and had Greater Confidence in You Capturing the National Title.”
