Jamaica: Rasheed Broadbell of Jamaica had a close call for silver in the men’s 110m hurdles category at Paris Olympics. The position was hence clinched by Daniel Roberts of USA as both the players shared the same timing.
Broadbell, the Jamaican athlete, was narrowly left behind Daniel Roberts as they both ended the race in 13.09 seconds. However, the gold medal was grabbed by Grant Holloway, who is also a US athlete, who clocked just 12.99 seconds.
The race was exciting to watch as all the athletes showcased great enthusiasm and dedication towards their sport.
Other Jamaican players who participated in the category includes Orlando Bennet who secured seventh position with 13.34 seconds, while Hansle Parchment, previous Olympic Champion ended up eight with 13.39 seconds.
It is to be noted that Broadbell suffered an injury earlier this year, which caused him to start his practice in June, leaving him with no time for practice. Despite these setbacks, Broadbell managed to get a medal, too, with a mere difference.
Broadbell, upon his win, stated, “I need to thank God. He has been in the thick of everything this year and season, given that it has been an up-and-down season with more downs than ups. But tonight, I got up. I wanted to be on the podium, but I can’t complain.”
With Broadbell’s win, Jamaica secured its sixth medal and hiked up to 38th position.
