Jamaica distributes $1 Billion relief aid for damaged houses following Beryl
PM Holness on Monday distributed $1 billion relief aid to people in jamaica following hurricane Beryl under Reach and Rebuild Programme.

Jamaica: Prime Minister Andrew Holness distributed $1 billion relief aid to residents in Jamaica on Monday following hurricane Beryl under Reach and Rebuild Programme. This relief aid distributed by the PM is for hurricane ravaged housings.
Reportedly, the programme provided a relief fund of up to J$400000 to citizens across Jamaica with completely destroyed homes. A J$150000 relief to people with severely damaged homes and up to J$50000 of relief fund to Jamaicans with minor damage to their homes.
The Prime Minister while his address noted that the government of Jamaica is the alone sponsor for this project. He also highlighted that the funding made this time is way more than what was given previously in 2004 and 2012.
Prime minister shared a glimpse of the event on his social media while stating “We know our citizens will be responsible in the use of the funds for the purposes of home reconstruction”
“For others in need, help is on the way!” He added in response to others in need of the relief.
It is to be noted that Jamaica suffered immense damage from the Category-5 hurricane Beryl. The storm caused collapse of roof at the passenger boarding pier of Norman Manley International Airport. The hurricane also caused a reported damage of $10.2 Billion to Jamaican roads and $1 Billion damage has also been announced for other rebuilding efforts.
Beryl not just caused damage to Jamaica but catastrophically destroyed other Caribbean nations including saint Vincent and grenadines and Grenada, where it caused the most damage. However, people of Jamaican on social media are praising the efforts by the PM in response to relief fund issued for disaster.

Daphne McCreath a Facebook user deeply expressed his emotions while stating, “Yes my God bless good up good up PM, the disgusting pnp haters are here,cussing you for giving the people help and making them the haters know,because the people who are getting the help towards the fixing of their house don’t have a problem if people see and know that you are giving them money for the fixing of their house,if their people are going on platform and telling people to scam people money and not hiding,why you should you hide and give people genuine help some thing that is legal,gawnn do your thing Mr PM the people appreciate what you doing so don’t mind the pnp haters,bless up your self Mr PM”
