Trinidad: 3 firearms seized and 2 held in crime eradication exercise
Police arrested two suspects and seize three illegal firearms with ammunition in crime eradication exercises in Trinidad.

Trinidad and Tobago: The police service authority of Trinidad and Tobago shared information on the crime eradication exercises that were conducted by the dedicated team of policemen around several divisions. The operations resulted in the arrest of two suspects and the seizure of three illegal firearms along with ammunition from the different localities on target. The chain of exercises was conducted from Saturday, 03 August to Tuesday, 06 August.
The crime eradication operations were focused in the regions of Central, North Eastern, and South Western Divisions of Trinidad. The last operation executed in the chain was on the morning of Tuesday around 09:00 am in the South Western Division. The anti-crime exercise was conducted by the officers of the Siparia Criminal Investigation Department, who collected the credible intelligence that led to the act.
Responding to the information, the team of police officers arrived at the targeted address along Allum Street, Siparia Old Road in the town. At the place an abandoned structure was searched by the responding officers. In the search, a garbage bag was collected by the police which was found inside the bathroom area, containing a shotgun made of wood. The illegal item was seized and taken to the Siparia Police Station.
The other crime eradication exercise was conducted in the North Eastern Division of Trinidad on Monday, which took place in the evening hours from around 08:50 pm to 11:30 pm. The mission was focused in the area of Morvant along Dorata Street which was executed jointly by the officers of Trinidad and Tobago Defence Force, the North Eastern Division Task Force, and the North Eastern Division Gang Investigation Unit.
The stop and search exercise was planned under the operation in the vicinity of Dorata Street in which a suspected man was taken under custody. The suspect was searched by the police officers, which resulted in the recovery of a firearm which was a Glock 22 pistol fitted with a selector and a magazine filled with thirteen counts of 0.4 calibre ammunition. The suspect man was identified as a resident of Success Village who was arrested instantly.
Reportedly, the suspect did not have any legal authority to carry lethal weapons and ammunition, after which he was taken into custody. The accused, along with an illegal weapon, was taken to the San Juan Police Station, and the proceeding was started against the man. The information on the initial crime eradication exercise was also shared by the authority, which was executed in the Central Division of Trinidad.
The exercise in the Central Division was conducted on the night of Saturday at nearly 11:00 pm when a team of officers was on a mobile patrol in the locality of Edinburgh. The responding officers were in the region working on a case of domestic disturbance affecting five hundred address. On the base of the report, the police offices conducted search of an individual in which they found illegal possessions.
In the search, the responding team of police officers found a firearm with the suspected man. Around nine counts of ammunition were also found. The suspect was a 29-year-old man who was arrested immediately for not having any licence of carrying weapon and was taken to the Chaguanas Police Station. The investigation is active in all the cases.
