St Vincent and Grenadines: Hike in COVID-19 cases causes two fatalities
COVID pandemic has caused a havoc among citizens in St Vincent and Grenadines as it caused 2 deaths in the country.

St Vincent and Grenadines: The COVID pandemic has once again created havoc among the residents of St Vincent and Grenadines as the country has recorded two deaths amid the rise in COVID cases in the country, announces PM Ralph Gonsalves on Sunday.
PM Gonsalves on WE FM said that St Vincent and Grenadines has recorded 125 cases of COVID-19 cases this year from which 89 are reported from July. In response to the statement, he highlighted this stating “So there’s an uptick”.
Additionally, the prime minister stated that two deaths have been reported recently from the pandemic. He stated that a 87-year-old lady lost his life on first of August. The second death was reported on 2nd August and he was also an elderly person residing at Lewis Punnet Home. The Lewis Punnet Home is a state-owned home for elderly or severely physically disabled persons.
PM Gonsalves further revealed that the rise in COVID cases is an issue for concern for all specifically the health authorities. “But there’s a general uptick in the region with COVID, and also in the hemisphere. In the United States, for instance, you see that there’s an increased uptick,” Prime minister added.
PM Gonsalves also noted that COVID-19 cases has been increased to 12 in emergency shelters housing people that were left homeless due to Hurricane Beryl, a category a 4 hurricane which damaged St Vincent and Grenadines early July.
The Prime minister emphasized that there was total 1322 peoples in the shelters and all of them have been tested for the disease. The PM Gonsalves also added that in case any individual is suspected for the disease or shows any symptoms, he/she is immediately evacuated and is quarantined for treatment.
“You don’t want to have somebody in the shelter who was going to spread it” PM emphasized.
Notably, the vaccines will be given to those who want as a precaution. However, the government will not force anyone for the same but health authorities will definitely encourage them for the same.
“There are a few establishments about and one or two departments in the government where one or two persons, a person gets, has COVID and they test the whole group of persons who are there,” the minister said in response to individuals who want to get them tested for COVID in St Vincent and Grenadines.
