Repair work underway in Barbados, locals warned of expected delays

Barbados: The Ministry of Transport and Works in Barbados is advising the residents to note expected traffic delays because of the scheduled repair work from August 12 to 16, 2024.
The repair work has already commenced at different locations, with drainage cleaning work ongoing in 18 areas and watercourse cleaning in five other areas.
The ongoing repair work in Barbados is expected to bring along different problems among the locals including a disruption in their daily lives. The residents are warned to face increased traffic in the noted areas, especially in peak hours.
Additionally, a potential delay could also be expected in delivery services and emergency services due to road closures. The Ministry is also urging the residents to plan their routes carefully and stay informed about the repair work to minimize inconvenience. Although these efforts aim to improve the island’s infrastructure, the short-term impact on daily life is expected to be difficult.
Water Course cleaning
The Watercourse cleaning will take place in different parts of the region, including Atlantic Park, St. Philip, Durants, St. James, Oxnard, St. James, St. Paul’s Avenue, St. Michael, St. Stephen’s Hill, St. Michael.
Road Repair Work
Barbados is set to undergo a major restoration process for its roads, with several areas to undergo excavation and curb preparation. The Animal Flower Cave Road- St Lucy, Franklyn Douglin Road- St. Andrew, Sweet Home Road- St. Peter, Jemmotts Road- St. Lucy.
Apart from this many roads in St Lucy and St Andrew will undergo a renovation including Chance Hill- St. Lucy, Coggins Hill- St. Andrew, Cherry Tree Hill- St. Andrew, Jordan Road- St. Andrew, King’s Street- St. Andrew, and White Hill in St. Andrew.
Other parts to undergo construction are Gibbons Terrace- Christ Church, Glenburnie- St. John, Highway F, Bath- St. John, Millionaire Road- St. Peter, Reece Road- St. Thomas, Laynes Bridge and Rock Dundo- St. James.
The road marking and signage installation process among pedestrian crossings has been initiated as the schools are set to open soon and this becomes important for child safety.
Drainage Repair Work
The Drainage repair work will be taking place among several different destinations including #33 Dover Gardens- Christ Church, #6 Buttals Tenantry- St. George, Ashdeane, Black Rock- St. Michael, Cnr, Maxwell Park, Maxwell Main Road- Christ Church, Constant- St. George, Cottage Link Road- St. George, Cross Culvert at Sky Mall Dayrells Roundabout- St. Michael, Golden Acres Housing Area St., Stephen’s Hill- St. Michael.
Hothersal Turning- St. Michael, Jackmans- St. Michael, Mannings Village- St. George, Marina Drive & Ocean Drive- St. Philip, Orange Cottage, Horse Hill- St. Joseph, Parish Land- St. George, Roundabout near to Cost-U-Less, Tamrind Ave, Country Road- St. Michael, Whitehall Terrace & Whitehall #2- St. Michael.
