Possible Shark Attack Leaves Jamaican Student Headless in Tragic Incident

Jamaica: The headless body of a 16-year-old student was discovered by divers in Jamaican waters on Tuesday, raising concerns about a possible shark attack. The body, found in a deteriorated state, had both a detached arm and head.

The deceased has been identified as Jahmari Reid, a 16-year-old student of William Knibb Memorial High School. He was reportedly missing since a spearfishing expedition to which he went alone after an argument with his father.

The severely deteriorated body of the adult sparks investigators’ to consider the possible involvement of sharks in the accident. However, these speculations remain inevitable until any further response from the authorities.

The student’s father upon his arrival at the beach painfully stated, “He went to the sea all by himself, I tried my best to discourage him from his spearfishing hobby, but these kids never listen.”

“We often argue over this, we fight and he is not doing it for any worthy cause, he doesn’t need to do this. But it is what it is. Can you believe it?” he added.

The divers upon questioning stated that they saw a killer tiger shark, shortly after they recovered the body and were looking for a head.

This incident however sparked interest in locals for exercising important precautions in order to prevent such accidents in the future.

In addition to this, the President of Falmouth Fisherfolks Benevolent Society, Fritz Christie stated the incident to be the first in recent times. Christie further revealed the incident to be a cause of a cruise vessel that recently came to the shore, noting the shark may have come following the vessel.

“What we should do is to make sure when the ships come, we should be careful of the diving,” Christie added.

Citizens in response to the incident immediately gathered at the scene, creating havoc among all. However, many are extending their condolences, while others are sharing their concerns over social media.

Niko VF, one of the social media users stated, “I was always cautious of passing ships when I’m in the water at sea because I’ve seen the sharks following those ships. Rip to a young soul. I can’t imagine going out that way.”

“Children should listen to their parents, why would he go out to sea alone and his father warn him all the time that he shouldn’t do it,” Joan Anthony another user stated.

Blayz Brooks stated, “I suspect he died from another cause, and the blood attracted the sharks afterward. There’s no history of sharks in Jamaica behaving like this.”
