Castries, Saint Lucia: Olympic Gold Medalist Julien Alfred from Saint Lucia is all set to participate in Weltklasse Zurich Diamond League on Thursday at 2: 26 pm ET. She will compete against World Champion Sha’Carri Richardson and other Olympians in the women’s 100m at the global stage.
Wishes have been poured on Julien Alfred from her hometown as they are extending hopes for her to win more medals at upcoming global events. She will also compete against Olympic finalists Daryll Nieta, Mujinga Kambundji and Marie Jose Ta Lau Smith as she nears the end of her 2024 track and field campaign.
Julien Alfred is the Olympic Gold and Silver Medalist and the first athlete from Saint Lucia to win such milestones for the country ever in the history. She secured both the medals in the recently concluded Paris 2024 Olympic Games and created history by becoming first from her small island nation.
Notably, Alfred defeated US’ most decorated Sha’Carri Richardson in the 100m finals at Olympics and won Gold at the global stage. She also won silver in the 200m finals at the same Olympic game and won two consecutive medals for Saint Lucia.
Now, the country has raised its hope for the athlete which is also being celebrated among the citizens with several events and activities. After her victory, Julien Alfred will return to Saint Lucia on September 24, 2024, and a comprehensive program has been prepared to offer her a grand welcome.
The welcoming ceremony will feature the showcase of the culture, performances of several artistes and other musical events. Besides this, the events will be hosted to honour her for achievements at the global stage and created history for Saint Lucia.
After her victory at Olympics, she became the most searched topic on the google as people even searched about Saint Lucia to know more about Julien Alfred and her hometown. Besides this, she will also be featured in the series of Netflix called “The Sprint” which will showcase her journey in the sports sector.
She also expressed delight and noted that this is always a matter of happiness to represent Saint Lucia at the global stage.
