Trinidad and Tobago: Some more stocks of illegal possession were seized by the police department in ongoing crime eradication exercises in the localities of the Point Fortin and Arima districts. The officers collected quantities of ammunition and a firearm on Tuesday, 20th August.

The operation was part of an ongoing investigation by the police units on the island. The probe led to the collection of information regarding unlawful activities in the area of focus. The police department of the Twin Island Republic shared the relevant details in the matter.

The first crime eradication exercise to seize illegal ammunition and a firearm was conducted in the region of the Point Fortin district of Trinidad. The mission by the authority was focused on the target of Egypt Village following the intelligence.

The action was taken in the morning time, around 07:50 am on the day, by the assigned team of investigative officers. The operation was dedicated to searching an open area in the village where the action was taken.

In the search at an open place, the responding party of lawmen found one firearm, which was a Glock 17 pistol. The gun was loaded with a magazine that was filled with eleven counts of ammunition. The illegal items were seized, and no arrests were reported.

The second crime eradication exercise was dedicated to the region of Arima, Trinidad on the same day. It is said that the operation led to the seizure of several items except a firearm. The action was taken by the officers of the Arima Intelligence and Operations Unit.

It is mentioned in the provided details that the mission was executed for three hours, from 01:45 pm to 04:45 pm. The spot on target was along Church Street in the locality of Carapo. The assigned police party headed for a search of an open area based on intelligence.

Reportedly, the operation came to a conclusion after the search of the targeted place, which left the officers with multiple findings. The police collected an assortment of ammunition, one drum magazine, a pair of black tactical pants, one glove, two black helmets, and one magazine.

As the first exercise, no arrest was reported in connection with illegal possession. However, the items are seized, and the police authority is actively searching for clues that could lead them to the hidden criminals.

The people shared their opinion ob the update and said, “These so-called intelligence-led exercises always seem to find ammo in open or secluded areas, but never who put them there, or who watching them, so criminals put them in arbitrary places and no one guards them, my gut feeling is that the police put them there and claiming to find them.”
