The State of the Tourism Industry Conference (SOTIC) has been kicked off in Grand Cayman this week and will be conducted till 6th September at the Westin Grand Cayman Seven Mile Beach Resort & Spa.

The event has been launched under the theme “Caribbean Tourism: Powering Our Lives”. The dynamic opportunity to gain insights and establish strong network opportunities is an effort of the Caribbean Tourism Organisation (CTO).

The event organised by the Cayman Island’s Department of Tourism and the Ministry of Tourism and Ports, will discuss crucial measures to shape the Caribbean’s tourism industry.

The event will also feature several industry experts and speakers talking about necessary measures and strategies to implement and attract tourists to the country.

Some of the key topics of discussion at the conference will be Sustainability, Technology and innovation, Aviation and Connectivity, Cruise Tourism, Leadership and Legacy, Business continuity planning, and more.

The Secretary-General and CEO of the CTO stated in regard to the launch of the event, “SOTIC 2024 is an important platform for Caribbean tourism stakeholders to come together and plan a course for a sustainable and prosperous future.”

This meeting will be representing several member states from the region who are partnering with the Caribbean Tourism Organisation. These countries include Dominica, St Kitts and Nevis, Barbados, Turks and Caicos, British Virgin Islands, and more.

“We are delighted to welcome delegates from the Cayman Islands, throughout the region, and around the world to engage in meaningful debate and collaboration.” Said the CEO and Secretary of the CTO.

The meeting will also include presentations, and panel discussions, and provide networking opportunities for leaders to connect. In a recent post by St Kitts and Nevis’ Premier Mark Brantley, he wished Keyana Warner, whom he addressed as the Junior Minister of Tourism a best of luck for the event.

Notably, Warner will be the representative for St Kitts and Nevis and she met the Premier before she inaugurated her journey to the Cayman Islands.

Premier Brantley about his meeting on social media stated, “Young Keyana is off to the Cayman Islands to represent Nevis in the CTO Youth Congress and we wish her every success. I was very impressed with her poise and passion for tourism.”

Warner’s interest in the tourism industry is a result of her mother’s dedication to serving the nation in the tourism industry.

“I am confident that Nevis is in great hands with young persons like Keyana” Brantley added.

The SOTIC 2024 is an event that will highlight the island nation’s commitment to bolster tourism in the region and drive the most tourists with the implementation of innovative strategies and procedures.
