Max60 Caribbean 2024: New York Strikers makes it to finals

After the competitive league stage, New York Strikers also conquered the Super Three phase of Max60 Caribbean T10 Cricket League 2024

After the competitive league stage, New York Strikers also conquered the Super Three phase of Max60 Caribbean T10 Cricket League 2024. The team booked its place into the first edition final to present challenge against the Caribbean Tigers team.

After finishing at forth position on the points table in the league stage of ten over format tournament, team proceeded to play super three games. New York Strikers faced two challenges by other two teams to become the finalist.

The two fixed matches for New York Strikers were against Boca Raton Trailblazers and Grand Cayman Jaguars. The team completely dominated the stage and defeated both the opponents to clear path between them and final.

In the first match of the Super Three they played Boca Raton Trailblazers, who came after winning against undefeated Caribbean Tigers. The toss was won by Captain Thisara Perera, who asked Trailblazers to bat first.

Captain David Warner came to the pitch to open batting for Boca Raton Trailblazers with Beau Webster. The first inning ended with a total of 106 runs on the scoreboard with loss of seven wickets.

David Warner stayed not out standing on the pitch while the wickets kept falling from the other end. He scored 55 runs for the team after facing 30 ball with 6 balls out of boundary line and 2 sixes with strike rate of 183.3.

Isuru Udana and Ansh Patel took two wickets each for the Strikers. Isuru Udana took this both wickets on the Fifth and sixth balls of very first over of the match. He departed Beau Webster at his third ball and Peter Hatzoglou for golden duck.

After that, the New York Strikers came to the ground and chased the target of 107 runs in just 8.1 overs. Colin Munro opened the inning to chase and scored 44 runs in 21 ball with 4 sixes and 2 fours.

The successful chase was concluded with power striking by Isuru Udana and Captain Thisara Perera. Udana played just 3 balls and collected 12 runs with 2 sixes. Perera 33 runs for 15 balls and ended the match with a six.

The final score was 112 runs for a loss of 3 wickets. After winning the first match, New York Strikers headed to play second match of Super Three in Max60 Caribbean 2024 against Grand Cayman Jaguars.

The toss was won by the Captain Sikandar Raza for Jaguars who decide to chase and asked Strikers to bat first. Brandon McMullen and Mitchell Owen came out to open the batting for New York and set score on board.

The team lost 8 wickets while batting first and collect a total of 104 runs on the scoreboard. All the five bowlers of opponent added wickets to their names. In answer, the Jaguars came to chase target of 105 but failed.

The New York Strikers bowlers restricted the Jaguars on a total of 96 runs after the end of 10 overs. Grand Cayman team lost 5 wickets while chasing and match went into the favor of Captain Perera’s team.

With two out of two wins, New York Strikers became finalist and will face the Caribbean Tiger team for the first title of Max60 Caribbean T10 Cricket League in the Cayman Islands.

One more match took place after these in Super Three, which left just for formality. The match 3 held between Boco Raton Trailblazers and Grand Cayman Jaguars. The match was won by Trailblazers by 40 runs.

Trailblazers scored 128 runs for a loss of 9 wickets after winning toss and batting first. While chasing Jaguars were limited to 88 runs for all out in 9.2 overs. Captain David Warner scored 63 runs for 25 balls, consecutive second fifty, but failed to take team in the final.
