Max 60 Caribbean: David Warner fails to set things right for Boca Raton Trailblazers

In the first edition of Max 60 Caribbean T10 Cricket League, Boca Raton Trailblazers is playing under the captainship of David Warner. Under his leadership, the team is not able to mark their strong presence in the 10-over format tournament.

Boca Raton Trailblazers is one of the five participating franchise-based teams in the Max 60 Caribbean T10 Cricket League in 2024. David Warner, who is a well-known name in international cricket, was picked by the team owners to represent their squad.

Anyhow, as the cricket tournament being hosted in the Cayman Islands entered on the fifth day of its venture, the path of the team became tougher. Boca Raton Trailblazers played 6 matches till now, out of 8 fixtures, in which they just won one game.

The Australian player, David Warner, played 5 matches out of six in which he gave a decent performance as a batsman. But his journey as a captain faced a complete failure. The only win for the team came in the first match they played in the Max 60 Caribbean.

After starting their venture on 18 August, they lost all the matches except one that was abandoned, and the match points were shared. On Thursday, 22 August, Boca Raton Trailblazers hit the ground to face two opponents one after another.

In the first match of the day, David Warner’s squad faced the team of Miami Lions. The match was at the venue of Jimmy Powell Oval Stadium, where the toss was won by the opponent, who asked the Boca Raton Trailblazers to open the inning.

In the match, the batsmen of Boca Raton Trailblazers managed to put just 87 runs on the scoreboard after facing 10 overs. The team lost 7 wickets in the inning where just David Warner played as loan warrior and scored 40 runs with help of 3 boundaries and 2 sixes.

The 37-year-old batsman lost his wicket while facing the 22nd ball on the third ball of the ninth over at a total score of 72 runs. No other batsman was able to face the bowlers of Miami Lions for a long time, as a result, the target on the board was just 88 runs.

The target was chased in just 8 overs by the team of Miami Lions under the leardership of Ravi Bopara. The chasing side lost 3 wickets and sealed the win with a six by Corey Anderson. The Miami Lions team scored 93 runs and collected the winning points with 7 wickets victory.

The only victory of Boca Raton Trailblazers was against Miami Lions on the opening day of Max 60 Caribbean T10 Cricket League 2024. David Warner was able to score just 12 runs in that match, but the result came in favor of the team with a difference of 23 runs.

After facing the Miami Lions for the second time, the next match of the day also came with a similar result but in worse conditions. The match was against Grand Cayman Jaguars, in which David Warner decided to bat first after winning the toss.

This time, David Warner got the help of Jack Wood to put the score on the board, and both collected 66 runs together for the second wicket. The inning proceeded at a slow pace, and the team was just able to score 86 runs with the loss of 4 wickets.

David Warner scored 36 runs in 23 balls with 5 fours, while Jack Wood collected 34 runs in 22 deliveries with 2 boundaries. This was the first day and only two matches in the Max 60 Caribbean 2024 for Boca Raton Trailblazers, where the team scored less than 100 runs.

Logan Van Beek was the one bowler who dismissed 3 wickets in the match, including the end of Warner’s inning. The team of Grand Cayman Jaguars came to bat and ended the match in just 5.3 overs. The target of 87 was achieved after a loss of 3 wickets.

With this, Boca Raton Trailblazers stood at the bottom of the points table with just 3 points. The team face 4 losses in 6 matches with 1 win. The first game against the Grand Cayman Jaguars was abandoned, and the Trailblazers got one point as a result.

In the abandoned match, just one inning was played in which Boca Raton Trailblazers scored 107 runs for a loss of 5 wickets. In the inning, David Warner’s personal score was 33 runs from 18 balls with 5 fours.

Till now, Captain David Warner has scored 145 runs in total after playing 5 matches. Warner has 16 fours and 4 sixes in his name in the tournament. He missed one match in the league, which was set against the team of New York Strikers.

David Warner still has a chance to take the Boca Raton Trailblazers in the top three and nect round of the Max 60 Caribbean T10 Cricket League 2024. For that, the team needs to score wins in the two remaining matches and also keep focus on the last matches of New York Strikers and Miami Lions.
