28-year-old man taken under trial for murder in Chaguanas

Trinidad and Tobago: A 28-year-old male suspect who was arrested in the case of murder by shooting in the locality of Chaguanas was presented in the high court for trial. The man was laid with the related charges for the unlawful act, after which he was scheduled for the court appearance for a hearing on Monday, 05 August. The accused man was on a flee after the crime till he was arrested and charged by the dedicated investigation officers.

The male suspect in his last twenties, who was held in the case of murder by shooting in Chaguanas, is identified by the police department and mentioned in the case report. The accused man is quoted in the reports by his name in the documents, which is Junior Barrack. Junior Barrack is disclosed to be the local resident of the town of Trinidad who lives in the locality of Enterprise.

The person who became the victim of the fatal criminal act in Chaguanas was also identified by the police authority, who mentioned the individual as a 33-year-old man. The name of the deceased is known to be Mark Quashie, as per his official documents. Mark Quashie was a vendor by his occupation, and he operated his stall in the market of Felicity. He lived as a resident of the same town where he was attacked and killed.

As per the available information on the case of shooting and murder in Chaguanas, the fatal act of crime against the victim was recorded in the town on Saturday, 16 March 2024. At the time of the fatal attack, the victim was at his stall and busy in his work when the suspect arrived at the place. It is said that the suspect accosted the victim during his business hours while the accused was carrying a gun with him.

It is mentioned that as the suspect approached the victim, a confrontation took place, which eventually led to the deadly firing. It is understood that the victim pulled his firearm and pointed it at the victim during the confrontation, after which the trigger was pulled and Mark Quashie was shot. The suspect immediately escaped from the crime scene and market, and the victim was left injured.

It is known that the wounded man was not able to survive, and he lost his life on the spot. The people in the market who witnessed that act informed the police department about the deadly act. The police department collected information about the fatal shooting leading to murder in a locality of Chaguanas, after which action was taken in response.

The investigation was initiated in the murder case of Chaguanas by the responding police team, and the dead body was taken under control after declaring the death officially. The officers of the Homicide Bureau of Investigations Region Three also took over the case, and the probe was launched, which led to the arrest of the suspect on Wednesday, 31 July. The man was subsequently charged and taken for an appearance in the North A Criminal Court.
