St. Kitts upgrades JNF Hospital private ward with EC$400K investment

Basseterre, St. Kitts: The Government of St. Kitts and Nevis marked another major milestone in its national healthcare transformation on August 10 with the official reopening of the newly refurbished private ward at the Joseph N. France (JNF) General Hospital.

The reopening represents the completion of a major renovation project supported by the investment of more than EC$400,000 over the past year. It is especially designed to significantly elevate patient care standards and improve hospital experiences. The upgraded wing has introduced modern amenities with essential clinical enhancement.

Among the major improvements introduced in the upgraded wing are

• 15 refurbished private rooms with brand new medical furniture and modernised equipment designed for individual patient comfort and clinical efficiency.

• Upgraded private bathroom facilities, full air conditioning system and individual televisions in patient rooms.

• Dedicated enhancement for health care with improved staff, brand new electronic buzzer system to ensure rapid nurse to patient communication.

Prime Minister and Minister of Health, Dr. Terrance Drew, stressed that structural updates are part of a broader vision centred on dignity, respect and standard of care for every patient across the federation.

Dr. Terrance Drew made a statement saying transformation is not only about new buildings and equipment, it is about creating an environment where patients feel comfortable, respected and properly cared for and where our healthcare professionals have the tools and facilities they need to do their jobs well.

The Prime Minister also highlighted that the investment reflects the administration’s broader commitment to setting higher healthcare standards across St. Kitts and Nevis. By prioritising modern facilities and giving medical personnel the tools that are necessary to perform effectively, the government’s main aim is to rebuild public trust and raise service quality across all public medical institutions.

While knowing that full healthcare change remains an ongoing journey that requires continued dedication and resources, Dr. Drew reassured citizens that their government remains firmly committed to making progression. He also noted that while significant work lies ahead, the federation’s steady advanced healthcare reforms step by step with clear purpose.
