PM Skerrit hosts Castle Bruce youth

Dominica: Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit met with young people in the Castle Bruce constituency during a Youth Dialogue and Social focused on their concerns, aspirations and opportunities for the future.

PM Skerrit described the gathering as a productive evening, saying he welcomed the opportunity to engage directly with young people and hear their views on the development of their communities and the wider country.

Taking to social media, the Prime Minister posted pictures of his meetup with the youth and encouraged them to participate wholeheartedly in the nation-building process. He emphasised that voices of the youth matter and that their ideas, perspectives and ambitions must be taken into account. Their views and perspectives must become part of how we move our country and communities forward.

It was encouraging to see young people actively participate and speak openly about the challenges they face and what aspirations they have, as posted by Senator Austelle Lockhart.

The Prime Minister took out time from his busy schedule to interact with the youth, listen to their concerns and ideas, and answer their questions. He also shared his vision for the continued development of the youth and the country. Parliamentary Representative Octavia Alfred, the Youth Coordinating Team, the Constituency Party Association and everyone else worked behind the scenes. The conversation was a healthy conversation.

The Prime Minister thanked everyone, especially the youth who showed up and actively raised their concerns before him. He has always emphasised dialogue and social outreach as key pillars for the country’s development. He also stated that young people are at the heart of Dominica’s developmental plans and that the gap between the governance and voices of the youth must be bridged.

Youth showed up in large numbers. The Prime Minister stressed that he will continue his engagement with the youth and work with them to provide more and more opportunities for the young people and actively involve them in the development of the constituency.
