Julien Alfred makes history with 200m Diamond League Final title

Saint Lucia: Olympic Gold Medalist Julien Alfred has become the first athlete from Saint Lucia to win the 200m Diamond League title and made history in Brussels on Friday. After opting out of the 100m, she dominated the 200m final and stormed to victory in 21.79.

Kayla White finished second in 22.00, while Amy Hunt took third with a season best of 22.16. It is considered another banger and milestone in the pockets of an Olympic winner.

She earned her third Diamond Trophy, but it was historic because of the being the first-ever athlete from Saint Lucia to win a medal in the 200m. Her power was considered too much for the field to handle in the final and ran to win the battle on the grounds of Belgium.

People showered their love over her as it was considered one of her best performances, making history for the small island nation. One of the social media users added, “Truly an incredible night, our first event exceeded all expectations. The Julien Alfred Foundation shows us the power of community, compassion and hope. Another added that she was on the ground training hard, making her win the title for the first time. Saint Lucia Kings also extended greetings to her and said, “Congratulations to Saint Lucia’s Julien Alfred on winning the 200m at 2026 Diamond League Final in Brussels.”

She ran a time of 21.79 seconds to bring home the title. Kenson Casimir added, “But the power of Julien Alfred just eases her away. Her performances made her a hero once again. Prime Minister Philip J Pierre extended greetings to Alfred for her incredible performances. It was a great moment for her.
