PM Skerrit added that their mission has always been to improve the lives of ordinary people, because we believe that the government must stand with the people, not only in words, but in deeds and actions.
PM Skerrit asserted that the government of Dominica should continue with its housing revolution, because they should never rest until we are satisfied that the people of Dominica all have a comfortable place to live and to grow their families.
He said that this is indeed a very costly exercise, but they are willing to spend this much money for the welfare of their people.
“While this can be a very costly exercise, because it is indeed a very costly exercise, this is why you will not find such a practice in many countries in this world, including developed countries.”
For the government, giving people and everyone the opportunity to recognize that this is their country, and they all have a right to benefit from what the country has to offer.
PM Skerrit mentioned that they are doing it not because they have money, but they believe fundamentally as it is the right thing to do for the people of Dominica.
“So whether you are head of a household or you're the head of a business, or you're head of an organization, or you're head of government, you have that same responsibility to those who you lead," said the prime minister.
He said that that government must always be a caring government and an empathetic government because empathy is a very difficult task.
