Minister Dr Denzil Douglas meets Indian External Affairs Minister Dr S Jaishankar in Delhi

St Kitts and Nevis: Minister of Foreign Affairs Dr Denzil Douglas met with Minister of External Affairs of India Dr S Jaishankar at Hyderabad House, Delhi on Tuesday. The meeting featured discussion on diverse range of topics for the cooperation and partnerships between the two countries.

During the meeting, the MoU was also signed between the diplomatic leaders, aiming to further intensify the bilateral ties between St Kitts and Nevis and India. The memorandum will enhance the collaboration between the two countries in tourism, sports and agriculture sectors.

Minister of External Affairs- Dr S Jaishankar expressed delight and shared glimpses on social media about his meeting with Minister Douglas. The discussion in the meeting also revolved around the digital landscape of both countries where they extend their support to each other, aiming to enhance the usage of technology among the citizens.

Secondly, the meeting emphasized the significance of collaboration between health and food security where both the leaders lauded each other’s contribution. The aspects of the capacity development were also featured in the meeting at Delhi.

The views have also been exchanged between the diplomatic leaders on the convergences as Global South in the multilateral arena.

Minister Douglas arrived in India on Sunday for his first-ever foreign ministerial visit and met with several diplomatic leaders in different meetings.

Earlier in the day, he also held a meeting with Union Minister JP Nadda where the health sector was kept in focus for discussion. Both the leaders have talked about the cooperation in the medical education, and medical value travel in New Delhi.

The leaders also shared their views on the health sector their countries and outlined the ways of combating non-communicable diseases, pharmaceuticals, and other aspects of the medical sector.

Besides this, Minister Douglas also signed a MoU with Minister of Sports- Dr Mansukh Mandaviya and discussed several areas of partnership in the sport sectors. During the meeting, Dr Douglas talked about his mission of enhancing the sports tourism.

The MoU outlined that the countries will work for the training, exchange and attachment programmes for sports sciences personnel. The collaboration will also be strengthened between the two countries in the areas of sports research and development in training, as per the MoU.

Additionally, the meeting also featured discussion about the saliant features of the diversification of the economy and providing opportunities to their citizens. The commitment was also made that India will provide assistance to St Kitts and Nevis in several sectors including vaccines and medical equipment.
