Ishona Charles and Tyler Smith to represent Grenada at Paris Paralympics 2024
Two athletes from Grenada are set to be a part of the upcoming Paris Paralympics which will be taking place late in August.

Grenada: Two athletes from Grenada are set to be a part of the upcoming Paris Paralympics which will be held late in August. The two players include Ishona Charles, a javelin and shot-put athlete who will be participating in his second Paralympics. However, Tyler Smith will represent Grenada in the Men’s Shot Put only.
The Paralympics this year will commence on August 28th, 2024, in France and will take place till September 10th, 2024.
The athletes in regard to the sports event stated their excitement as it is a possible opportunity for them to represent the nation on a global level.
The players have been receiving coaching from an IAAF Certified Level One coach named Bassanio Nicholas. The coach following the players participation in Paralympics noted that, “I am more than confident that both of these players will set the international ground on fire.”
“They are highly talented, and their work ethic and attitude were positive throughout the preparation,” he added.
Both Ishona Charles and Tyler Smith will be traveling along Alvin Clouden, who is the secretary of the Grenada Paralympics Committee and will also lead the delegation as the Chief of the Mission.
The president of the Grenada Paralympic committee noted that Clouden will also be attending several meetings in Paris as a General Secretary of GPC and it will help in fostering a strong relationship with other sports federations attending the event.
Notably, the Paris Paralympics take place every two years under two consecutive categories, winter Paralympics and Summer Paralympics. The event features most of the sports, with several athletes participating from different regions across the globe.
This year approximately 4400 players will compete for the top positions among 549 competitions in 22 sports. There are 20 venues so far planned to conduct the competition in the country.
The opening ceremony for the event will take place on August 28th, and it will honor participants across 180 countries. The ceremony will commence with a parade down the legendary Avenue of Des Champs-Elysees to the Place de la Concorde.
The event will also feature more than 150 dancers performing at the opening ceremony. Apart from this several musical performances have also been planned to take place at the opening ceremony.
The citizens are constantly sending their wishes to the players. Rhona Andrew, a Facebook user, noted, “We wish both of them all the best in the Games.” Ann Duncan said, “Wishing you both the very best, Grenada is proud. “
“Good luck to both of you. Thank you for representing our nation on a global scale. Great hopes from you,” Claudette Birch noted.
