VA Caribbean Healthcare System resumes services after Ernesto

VA Caribbean Healthcare System released an official update on the programs and availability of the services after tropical storm Ernesto. The authority announced on Friday, 16 August, that the clinics by VA Caribbean would be operational around the region.

Recently, due to the arrival of a tropical storm, Ernesto, the services were interrupted by the authorities. The storm affected many sectors actively working around the region, including the healthcare and communication industry.

Now, after all, things are coming back on track after an interruption, the VA Caribbean Healthcare system also started its operations again. The organization is dedicated to the Caribbean region to provide Veterans around the island nations with healthcare facilities.

The officials of the organizations also disclosed in their updated notice that the VA emergency Perscription Program will continue till Monday, 19 August. It is mentioned that services will be active for Veteran patients who need to obtain refills.

The patients can reach out to any local retail pharmacy for their requirements. It is stated that Veterans can visit the outlet with an empty VA prescription bottle that is active for refill or a new VA prescription on a form by VA.

The officials also mentioned that the prescription must be by an authorized VA provider. If the patient is looking to refill the used empty bottle, it must not be old for more than six months. The point to be recognized is that this guideline is not for controlled substances.

VA Caribbean Healthcare System also mentioned the availability of the Heritage Health Customer Care Line in the notice. The helplines are shared for both VA patients and Pharmacies for queries related to billing or other things.

Veteran patients or VA Pharmacies can call to 1-866-265-0124. The helpline will be working between hours of 07:00 am to 11:00 pm from Monday to Friday. The timing to contact on Saturday and Sunday is set between the hours of 09:00 am to 05:30 pm.

The notice by the VA Healthcare also added that the VISN 8 Clinical Contact Center is providing contact service 24/7 all along the year. The service is maintained by the VA Sunshine Healthcare Network, which provides support and virtual care for Veterans.

VISN 8 service actively works for Veteran patients who are from South Georgia, Florida, Puerto Rico, and the US Virgin Islands and enrolled in the VA Health Care. The contact shred for the Veterans for help in relation to service by VA is 1-877-741-3400.

VA Caribbean Healthcare System also added in the notice that the services of nurse triage, general administrative support, VA Video Connect, VA Health Chat, pharmacy services, virtual visits with a doctor, and nurse practitioner via telephone are also available.

The officials also declared that the contacts provided for help to the veteran patients must not be used in the case of emergency. During the situation of emergency, patients or their relatives must contact 911 for help or visit the closest emergency room in the area.
