Trinidad and Tobago: The police department ended with an arrest of a male suspect with an illegal firearm and ammunition in the capital, Port of Spain.
The accused man is a member of the Coast Guard and a cook in the department. The man was held with illegal possession on the night of Tuesday, 13 August, around 08:30 pm.
The details of the case of an illegal firearm and a quantity of ammunition seizer in Port of Spain are officially shared by the police department. The accused serves his duty in the Coast Guard as an assistant cook, who was held during an anti-crime exercise in the locality of Trinidad.
As per the collected details on the illegal firearm and ammunition case of Port of Spain, the action was taken by officers from the Guard and Emergency Branch. It is said that the dedicated officers were on mobile patrol on the day when they explored the unlawful act.
It is mentioned in the details that the team of officers spotted a motor vehicle along Abattoir Road in the district, which realized their suspicion. The vehicle was a Mazda 3 motor car, which was intercepted and searched by the responding officers.
The search of the motor vehicle led the officers to the discord of illegal possessions. It is disclosed that the officers found a pistol in the car, which was loaded with an extended magazine. The magazine contained three counts of active ammunition in it.
Reportedly, the suspected motor car was occupied by one male individual who was later found to be associated with the Coast Guard as an assistant cook. The cook failed to disclose any authority or any license in relation to the finding of lethal weapons and ammo.
Straight after, the man was arrested by the responding police team, which transferred the suspect to the police station. The illegally possessed firearm and ammunition found in the Port of Spain district were also seized and taken to the police station. The investigation in the case is still in progress.
The police department of Trinidad and Tobago also shared information about another case in which officers seized a quantity of marijuana in Tobago. The action was taken by the dedicated officers from the Inter-Agency Task Force.
The intelligence-led exercise was targeted in the different localities across the Tobago division. The areas of focus were Whim, Signal Hill, Buccoo, Scarborough, and Plymouth districts. The operation executed on Tuesday ended with a seizure of a quantity of marijuana, and no arrest was reported.
On the same day, officers also took over the district of Saint Joseph and conducted an exercise that lasted from 10:30 am to 02:00 pm. The police team took action at Hobal Trace, where a stolen vehicle was found, which was reported missing in the Sangre Grande district.
