PM Terrance Drew meets Cayon community, shares progress on High School
Prime Minister Dr Terrance Drew visited the Cayon community and met the residency as part of his regular walkthroughs

St Kitts and Nevis: Prime Minister Dr Terrance Drew visited the Cayon community and met the residency as part of his regular walkthroughs across different constituency of St Kitts and Nevis.
He interacted with the children, elders, adults, parents, males and females during his visit and asked them about their concerns regarding the functioning of the government in the community. PM Drew also asked for the proper details about the work of the daily wagers and the shopkeepers who run small businesses.
He was seen wearing the T-shirt of St Kitts and Nevis Patriots team of the CPL 2024 and talked to the people about their daily lives. This was one of his visits across different communities of the country which he started in the last month, aiming to enhance interaction between the government and the common people.
During his visit, he also toured Cayon High School where construction is underway for the installation of the new and advanced infrastructure. He monitors the progress of the extensive work which is being done on the school and noted,” We have invested significantly and will continue to do so even after school begins.”
As part of the construction work, the painting is undergoing in the school, new infrastructure such as doors, windows, and furniture have been installed. The construction has also been progressing on the facility to secure the space from any type of containment, aiming to provide a safe and secure environment for students, teachers and other staff.
The UV light has also been installed in the structure, aiming to leverage the power of ultraviolent light as it provides a non-toxic way to eliminate mould spores without leaving behind any chemical residue.
Prime Minister Drew expressed delight and noted that their ultimate aim is to enhance the education sector by protecting the rights of the students, teachers and other workers in the school.
Currently, the school has been running on the hybrid model with most of the students attending the face-to-face classes, while others are involved in the online teaching with the use of the devices distributed by the government in November 2023.
The government has also employed a task force for the students amid the rising temperature which could increase the growth of Mould.
The Cayon High School is undergoing extensive changes under the current government’s project for the education sector. Prime Minister Drew noted that they are working to enhance learning and teaching methods across St Kitts and Nevis.
