Prime Minister Terrance Drew remains in stable condition after being hospitalized with headache, nausea and fever, with doctors recommending overseas medical observation as a precaution.
St. Kitts and Nevis PM Terrance Drew Hospitalized, to Undergo Overseas Medical Care
St. Kitts and Nevis: Prime Minister Dr Terrance Drew has been hospitalized at the JNF General Hospital after suddenly falling ill on Sunday evening. He was under observation for about 18-hours and is now planning for overseas medical transport.
Notably, he experienced a sudden headache, mild discomfort, nausea and fever, putting him under observation and comprehensive clinical evaluations. Following analysis and other diagnostic reviews, his treating physicians are satisfied with his overall conditions, confirming that Prime Minister Dr Drew is awake, alert and in stable conditions.
However, out of an abundance of caution, his doctors have recommended that he be transported overseas for further specialised observation. Now, the officials are preparing for his transfer for his further treatment and reviews.
The cabinet and the government of St. Kitts and Nevis are assuring that the nation will work continuously and seamlessly without any interruption. The citizens and the entire nation wished PM Drew good health and speedy recovery as the situation happened suddenly.
Notably, other Caribbean leaders have wished him best and speedy recovery from his condition. Prime Minister of Barbados, Mia Amor Mottley stated that her thoughts and prayers are with brothers and sisters in St. Kitts and Nevis and wished him renewed strength, healing and a full recovery.
Mia Mottley noted, “My thoughts are with our brothers and sisters in Saint Kitts and Nevis following the hospitalisation of Prime Minister Dr The Honourable Terrance Drew. Prime Minister Drew is a valued colleague, a friend and our Caribbean brother.”
She noted, “He and his family remain in our prayers, and we wish him renewed strength, healing and a full recovery. May God hold him in His care. We look forward to seeing him well again.”
Opposition Leader Timothy Harris also wished him speedy recovery. He said, “I have learnt of the illness of the Prime Minister, the Honourable Dr. Terrance Drew, and I extend to him my sincere wishes for a speedy and complete recovery.”
He said that there are moments when the contests of politics must give way to the greater bonds of our common humanity. This is such a moment.
