PM Drew shares health update, says “Nothing alarming to report”

St. Kitts and Nevis: Prime Minister Dr Terrance Drew provided an update on his health and assured the citizens that “there is nothing alarming to report.” In a video, he extended gratitude to friends and well-wishers across the region and around the world for wishing him good health and speedy recovery.

PM Drew addressed the people of St. Kitts and Nevis after getting admitted to Miami Hospital due to a stroke and gave assurance of his better conditions. He is currently in South Florida of the US and undergoing a special treatment on the advice of medical specialists.

He said that the doctors are continuing their investigations as last Sunday, he experienced persistent nausea, which progressively developed into episodes of vomiting. After that, he noticed a distinct pain on the left side of his neck, then a mild headache and dizziness.

Later in the day, he felt unsteady on his feet and had difficulty with his balance and walking. He then consulted with Dr Jeffrey Liburd, Dr Irvin Bias, Dr Dwayne Hendrickson, and Dr Laguna who directed him to JNF Hospital for further scans and investigations to determine the cause.

He said, “This experience has been a wake-up call for me and I hope it can also serve as a reminder to each of you that health matters. We must listen when our bodies speak to us.”

PM Dr Drew also advised the public to take their health seriously and asked them to get their regular checkups, take the time to rest and never ignore the warning signs when something does not feel right.

He also expressed gratitude to the excellent doctors, caring nurses and other members of the medical team at the JNF General hospital for their swift response, care and professionalism.

“Thank you once again for the tremendous outpouring of love, concern and prayers,” said the prime minister. He said that he and his family are deeply grateful.
