PM Terrance Drew reportedly suffers stroke, receives treatment in Miami

St. Kitts and Nevis: Prime Minister Dr Terrance Drew suffered a stroke and was admitted to a Baptist Hospital in Miami for medical treatment on Wednesday. As per the reports, his condition was currently stable following prompt treatment, and he is not expected to experience lasting effects.

Notably, PM Dr Drew fell ill on Sunday evening and was rushed to University Hospital of Martinique to receive the treatment for headache and nausea. At the hospital, he was asked to be transported to Miami for further treatment as medical examinations confirmed the diagnosis.

The reported diagnosis has not yet been publicly confirmed by the government or the medical bullet from Prime Minister Dr Drew’s medical team. As of now, he was placed under observation and underwent a medical assessment as he received the treatment from Professor Dabor Resiere in the intensive care unit.

Martinique La Première further reported that the Prime Minister is not expected to experience lasting effects from the medical episode.

Dr. Drew was said to have expressed gratitude for the treatment he received from Martinique’s healthcare professionals. The report also claimed that he intends to discuss the quality and availability of medical care in Martinique with fellow CARICOM leaders.

News of the reported diagnosis comes amid growing public calls for clearer information about the Prime Minister’s health. Initial government statements confirmed that he was receiving overseas medical care but did not disclose his destination or provide a specific diagnosis.

As of now, Deputy Prime Minister Dr Geoffrey Hanley is serving as the Acting Prime Minister and will manage all the work of the governance. The government of St. Kitts and Nevis stated that the work is currently ongoing seamlessly.
