While air travel is a stressful and uncomfortable experience for many, a thoughtful and innovative gesture by a mother during a 10-hour flight from South Korea to the United States has captured the hearts of many across the globe.
The mother, who was traveling with her 4-month-old baby, Jun Woo made sure that her fellow passengers did not face any discomfort while traveling. She distributed a small package consisting of candies, gum, and earplugs.
She distributed more than 200 small bags to the passengers as an early apology for any inconvenience her baby might have caused during the journey. However, a special note was what captivated the passengers, which explained the situation and stated an apology.
“Hi, I’m Jun Woo. I’m 4 months old and today I’m traveling to the United States with my mom and grandma. I’m a little nervous and scared. This is my first flight. It’s normal that I cry or cause any disturbance. I will try to stay calm, but I can’t promise. Please use the earplugs if my voice gets too loud. Enjoy your trip,” the note read.
This initiative by the mother reflected her deep interest and a gesture to provide others with comfort. she is now receiving immense appreciation over social media for her efforts and several are comparing the situation with different circumstances.
Jessy Kamei a Facebook user stated, “Such an understanding way to show apologies in advance. Very impressive to see being a mother.”
Kumar Thapa, another user said, “Imagine, if everyone has this same thought, the world would be so much better place.”
“Oh, how sweet of this mother I hope the baby n family had a relaxed and soundless journey I salute this mother for being so considerate towards the other passengers unlike some who get drunk and perform noisy,” Sumukey Mayah Easton noted.
On the other hand, Amit Chauhan, a Facebook user concerningly highlighted this effort by the lady to be sad as she had to perform such an act for comfort of others. The user then noted that people traveling in the plane should tackle their issues and not her
“It’s sad that a mother had to go to such an extent to do this. Others may not be able to afford it. But a baby crying is natural and it should not make any mother so much worried that she had to go to such extent. This just sets a wrong expectation. If u are a mother and your baby cried and you didn’t have this thing to give to all then don’t worry. It’s normal and natural. People in the plane who have issues should be ashamed and not you,” the user stated.
Many other people also commented while highlighting the same idea that people who have issues should tackle them by themselves and no one should be blamed.
Deepan Chakravarthy in response to this said, “People should be mature enough that babies cry in flight lot of people snore in flight which is so disturbing. It’s normal too but still, it’s a great gesture by the mother”
While replying to Chakravarthy’s comment, Pradeep Sharma noted, “seriously and exceptionally great gesture in a particular scenario. It was great that I came through this post.”
“A person who loves their parents doesn’t need such gifts because they understand that such a mother could use that money to feed her child. Unfortunately, we live in a society where people say nothing when a dog barks but when a baby cries, they get bent out of shape.” John Sins Martin highlighted the thinking of society in his comment.
In contrary to this, some users are raising concerns that how the lady was authorised to board the plane with so much chocolates and candies.
Abhik Dasgupta mentioned that, “In India you can’t even board the plane with so much chocolates. They will deboard you. I was going on a safari and carried one extra camera battery and I was deboarded”
Harshad Kochrekar another user said, “Meanwhile I’m thinking, how did she manage to carry all this in her carry-on baggage while dealing with a 4mo.”
“Weird isn’t it. Is such distribution allowed on international flights,” another user named Vartak Girish noted.
Waza Fehrooz mentioned, “How she carried 200 bags of chocolates, as far as I know, any airport doesn’t allow any kind of food and liquids unless it is baby food. Note: no hate for the mother and the baby, it’s just a genuine opinion.”
In conclusion, this effort by a mother is a testament towards society and their behaviour among others. This gesture is a debate for empathy and societal expectations. While the response has been mostly positive, many others have different perspectives on the situation.
Ultimately, this incident is a reminder of the power that kindness hold, and the importance of understanding, while interacting with others, especially in public places.
