Jamaica: The law enforcement authorities are actively working on a case of shooting during an encounter with the suspects in the locality of Spanish Town.

During the act, a team of investigating officers took action in the Backlands area, where they faced three armed men. It is reported that the shootout led to the death of two individuals while one escaped the scene on the morning of Wednesday, 07 August, around 06:30 am.

Among the suspects who were shot and killed by the police officers during the fatal firing in the encounter of Spanish Town, one is identified by the authorities.

The dead suspect in the case is mentioned by his documented name, Orlando Davis. Orlando Davis is also known by the people in his circle by several given names like Blacks and Son Son. The deceased man was quoted as a local resident of Jones Avenue in Spanish Town, Jamaica.

The other male suspect, who was gunned down by the police officers in the fatal shootout, is not in the records of authority and is still unknown.

The police officers are trying to find out the background of the dead man and his relation in possible involvement in the crimes committed by Orlando Davis. The third man in the company of the dead suspects who escaped the scene is also unidentified.

As per the reports on the case of a fatal shooting encounter in Spanish Town, the police department had intelligence against the suspects on the basis of which they launched an operation. The targeted operation was focused on a dwelling in Backlands, Jones Avenue, which was the residence of Orlando Davis. The action was taken early in the morning, and the responding officers went to the marked address where they faced the three suspects.

It is mentioned by the police department that at the scene, three suspects were present who observed the arrival of police officers after which they got armed and started shooting at the lawmen.

The police officers, out of no option, got armed with their service guns in response to the shooting which resulted in a gun battle. As the shootout came to an end, the two suspects were seen injured with gunshot wounds, while a third fled from the site before police were able to capture him.

Subsequently, the site of the shooting encounter in Spanish Town was sealed by the police officers and the investigation was started. The information about the gunbattle was passed to the higher authorities, and the injured victims were taken to the Spanish Town Hospital for medical help. In the hospital, both the injured suspects were declared dead officially by the doctor.

Reportedly, the officers collected a Springfield rifle from the site of the shooting with two live counts of ammunition.

The encounter case of Spanish Town was taken over by the members of the Independent Commission of Investigations, who launched a probe into the matter. It is disclosed that Orlando Davis was the main person of interest in the operation.
