Barbados to receive first British Airways direct service from London Gatwick

Barbados: Barbados will receive direct flights from London Gatwick with service operated by British Airways, starting October 25, 2026. The service will complement the existing London Heathrow services which continue daily to November before increasing to twice daily from December to March 2027.

With the addition, British Airways will operate three daily direct flights from the UK to Barbados during the winter. It will receive one flight from Gatwick and two from Heathrow which is a first for the island.

Notably, the airline announced a 70% increase in seats for 2026/2027 winter season and an over 100% increase in summer 2027 capacity. The expanded schedule will increase the seats and take the total number to 120,000 per year.

The direct flight service will also continue into Summer 2027 as it will mark the British Airways’ first-ever double-daily Summer service to Barbados. It is considered a major boost for the country as history is being created.

The flight will operate as a shared service with Guyana, Tobago or Grenada on six days and the decided service for Barbados will operate every Wednesday. This expanded capacity provides UK travellers, particularly families, with greater flexibility and supports growing demand for travel to Barbados year-round. The enhanced airlift also offers visitors access to Barbados’ signature events, such as the Crop Over Festival, Barbados Ninja Throwdown, Dive Fest, Rally Barbados that are held during the summer.
