West Indies wins T20- three match series against South Africa with 2-0

West Indies won the T20 series against South Africa after securing victory in first two matches of the tournament. The team won the first match by 7 wickets, while the second victory was secured by 30 runs.

While taking a lead of 2-0 in three matches, West Indies won the third consecutive T20 series against South Africa. The first match was held on Friday and the second match was taken place on Sunday at Brian Lara Cricket Ground, Trinidad and Tobago.

First Match

In the first match, West Indie chased its highest successful T20 total of 176 runs with the help of the powerful knocks of Nicholas Pooran with 65 runs, Shai Hope with 51 runs, and Alick Athanaze with 40 runs.

After deciding to bowl first, the bowlers of West Indies took control of South Africa batters at 42 with the loss of 5 wickets. However, the team returned to its momentum with the help of the 71-run partnership between Patrick Kruger and Tristan Stubbs for the sixth wicket.

They lost the sixth wicket and took seventh wicket stad of 60 runs off 25 balls with the partnership between Stubbs and Bjorn Fortuin.

At the innings of West Indies, Shai Hope and Alick Athanaze played an inning of 84 runs in 49 balls with the opening wicket of Hope. Nicholas Pooran and Athanze’s partnership turned out to be the dream score for the country and give a strong partnership to the team with 54 runs off 33 balls.

Second Match

In the second match, West Indies first went for the batting and scored 179 runs with the loss of 6 wickets in 20 overs. Shai Hope again shined in the match and scored most of the runs for the team by playing an inning of 41 runs.

Another great knock had come from Captain Rovman Powell who made 35 runs and contributed to the total score of the team. In the end, Sharfane Rutherford made 29 runs in 18 delivered including three fours and two sixes.

On the batting side, Ryan Rickelton and Reeza Hendricks played well for South Africa team, however with the dismissal of these two players, the team suffered a lot. The bowling performance from Shamar Joseph and Romario Shepherd also led the team to win the match as the latter took three wickets for 15 runs in 4 overs.

He was also given a player of the match award as his bowling attack made team win the T20 series against South Africa.
