The first among two major crime eradication exercises in Trinidad, seizing firearms, was conducted by the authorities in the locality of the Carenage district. The operation was conducted on the day of 16 August by the assigned team of officers from the Western Division Police.
The operation by the police officers was dedicated to the locality along Francois Street in the district. It is said that an incident of firing was observed in the area, and the people who heard the several loud explosions passed the information to the police department.
