Saint Vincent and the Grenadines: Manhunt underway after four killed in Green Hill shooting

Saint Vincent and the Grenadines: A manhunt is underway after four people were killed and four others injured in a shooting in Green Hill, Central Kingstown, on Friday night, September 25, 2026.

Police responded to reports of gunfire in the community at about 10:30 p.m. and found four people with what appeared to be gunshot wounds. Three of the victims were male and one was female.

The intention behind the shooting incident still remains unknown. Two dead bodies were recovered, one in a vehicle parked on the public road and the other on the land nearby.

“The body of a female was discovered in a vehicle that was parked on the public road, and on the adjacent piece of land another body was discovered”, said Acting Commissioner of Police Trevor Bailey on Saturday in response to reports of gunfire in the Green Hill community in Central Kingstown.

The preliminary examination revealed that the fatalities occurred due to gunshot wounds. Four other injured people were taken to Milton Cato Memorial Hospital, out of which two were treated and discharged, while the other two are in hospital getting their treatment. Assistant Commissioner of Police Brenton Smith said the motives will be established once the investigation gets completed.

Notably,the authorities are already grappling with the problem of gang violence and attacks involving rival groups. Nearly 37 homicides have been recorded in the region this year. Authorities are increasing their responses by increasing patrolling, searches and greater intelligence. Youngsters have been urged to stay away from criminal groups.

The region is a 32- island nation famous for white sand beaches and clear waters. It is a popular yachting spot for wealthy tourists. Tourism has been the main source of income for the region for a long time. It's a small, English - speaking island with a population of 110,000 people. Parliamentary representative St. Clair Leacock described the killings as a severe national concern.
